Making an oil pressure gauge with an Adafruit QT Py #AdafruitForums #QTPy

Date:

On the Adafruit Forums, user seasidemotors looks to make an oil pressure gauge with an Adafruit QT Py processor and a character display.

So I have a simple 16×2 LCD displaying an oil pressure reading from a pressure transducer. I had the LCD laying around for a couple years now and wanted to put it to use.  I am going to install this into my old 02′ Subie with like 250,000 miles on it, I worry about how much life the old piston slap happy flat 4 has in left in it.

I really like how I was able to fit the entire setup on the back of the LCD and keep it all contained within its size boundaries and the whole package is about 21mm thick from front to back. Compact and Petite, just like my QT Py 😉

BOM:
Adafruit 16×2 LCD Display
Adafruit I2C Backpack for the LCD (SPI to I2C Converter)
Adafruit QT Py SAMD21 (Life of the party!)
Traco TSR-1-2450 21v to 5v (I really like this one for its simple bullet proof design and compact size, Although the Adafruit MPM-3610 is another solid choice for stepping down automotive 12v systems)
22K and 68K 0.6w 1% resistors for the required voltage divider on the analog input.
IN4007 Diode on the 5v power input to the QT PY.
0.5v-4.5v (0-100psi) pressure transducer

See the details in on the Adafruit Forums.
