According to Touraj Dehqani Zanganeh, the head of Iran’s Civil Aviation Organization, the country is planning to develop a production line and build a 100-seat commercial passenger plane.
New Iranian Aircraft
Because sanctions prevent Iran from properly replacing its aircraft, Iranian airlines often fly older planes like the Airbus A300, Fokker 100s, MD-80s, and other avgeek favourites.
According to the Tehran Times, Iran may be considering the building of a new 100-seat commercial passenger airliner to address the scarcity of new aircraft.
According to Dehqani, a Memorandum of Understanding exists between Iran’s Civil Aviation Organisation, Ministry of Defence, and Ministry of Transport and Urban Development.
He stated,
“In order to be able to utilise the country’s current military capabilities for the production of commercial aircraft, we signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the Ministry of Defence.”
According to data published by ch-aviation, there are now 386 aircraft in Iran from various carriers. For a variety of causes, about 40% of the Iranian fleet is stranded. There are now just 140 aeroplanes in service.
According to OAG schedules, Iran’s domestic market has 12.4 million people this summer. Domestically, the MD-82 is by far the most popular aircraft, followed by the Fokker 100.
Iran required approximately 500 aircraft in 2018 to replace its current fleet and expand over the next ten years. However, the Iranian regime’s restrictions have made this nearly impossible, therefore possessing one’s own plane might be quite beneficial to local airlines. The Advanced Aviation and Transportation Technology, according to Dehqani, will also aid in the creation of the new plane, which is still in the initial stages of development.
