Back in October last year, Google had announced the company’s first-ever wireless earbuds called ‘Pixel Buds’ at the Made by Google event in New York City.

Finally, after over 6 months of wait, the search giant has launched the second-generation Pixel Buds on the U.S. Google Store for $179.

The new Pixel Buds, a direct competitor to Apple’s Airpods, feature an in-ear design so that each earbud sits securely in your ear. It comes with a custom-designed 12mm dynamic speaker drivers that deliver high-quality audio.

It also features IPX4 ingress protection rating, which means they are sweat and water-resistant.

The headphones come with built-in sensors that automatically detect when you are talking, and real-time language translation. It also has a new Adaptive Sound technology that automatically adjusts the volume of the earphones depending upon the outside noise. Google promises clear phone calls in windy or noisy environments.

Further, the wireless earbuds’ responsive touch surface offers a lot of intuitive gestures like tap to play or pause a song, and swipe to adjust the volume. The new Pixel Buds let you talk to Google Assistant hands-free like their predecessor.

The Pixel Buds can deliver up to 5 hours of continuous listening time on a single charge, and up to 24 hours of battery life when using the wireless charging case. The earbuds also come with quick charging that will give you 2.5 hours of listening time on a 10-minute charge, says Google. There’s a USB-C port on the bottom that can be used to charge the Pixel Buds.

You can pair your Google Pixel and Android 6.0+ devices with Pixel Buds just with a single tap. Similarly, you can also easily connect the headphones to laptops, tablets, and iOS devices with Bluetooth 4.0+.

The long-range Bluetooth connectivity on the Pixel Buds allows you to stay connected up to three rooms away when indoors and up to a football field’s length away when outside.

The new Pixel Buds will be “updated over time with new features, including an update to Find My Device which will show the last known location of your earbuds.”

The “Clearly White” Pixel Buds are now available for purchase in the United States for $179 from the Google Store and retailers including AT&T, Best BuyT-MobileU.S. CellularVerizon and Walmart. Target will have the Pixel Buds in early May.

Other finishes of the earbuds such as Almost Black, Quite Mint, and Oh So Orange will be available in the ‘coming months’. Pixel Buds will come to more countries in the coming months as well.
