Today Sucker Punch Productions dropped Update 2.04 for Ghost of Tsushima. The massive 21GB update seems mostly to be meant to lay the groundwork for the Director’s Cut set to release Friday, Aug. 20, but also adds some content to the current game and its co-op multiplayer mode Ghost of Tsushima: Legends.
One of the biggest features added in Update 2.04 is the ability to backup your PlayStation 4 game save and transfer it to the PlayStation 5, allowing you to pick up in the Director’s Cut exactly where you left off in the base version. This includes trophies earned, plus story and character progression.

The Director’s Cut is a remastered version of the original game that will cost $69.99 on PS5 and $59.99 on PS4; however, owners of the original game can upgrade to the PS5 version of the Director’s Cut for $29.99 or to the PS4 version of the Director’s Cut for $19.99. Sucker Punch also announced that Ghost of Tsushima: Legends will be able to be bought Sept. 3 as a stand-alone game with the opportunity to upgrade to the Director’s Cut for $40.
The Director’s Cut is also meant to release alongside the single-player Iki Island expansion and a new Rivals mode for Ghost of Tsushima: Legends.
