But alas, the barra pool is no more

Summer may be hotter and sweatier than a shearers armpit in Far North Queensland but the owner of this Cairns house had other ideas for the swimming pool.

Showing an admirable devotion to the fine art of fishing, they turned the old dip ship into a barra pond.

But it would also appear they had an alternative way to cool off on those plugger puckering days.

Listing photos for 36 Tiffany St in White Rock show a pint-sized kiddie pool next to a number of fishing rods in what appears to be an airconditioned bedroom.

But it is 33 degrees and 246 per cent humidity at 8am – even the fish have migrated south – and the word ‘pool’ is the number one search term for buyers in Queensland on realestate.com.au after all.

The struggle is real!

And this vendor is clearly not completely troppo.

“The pool was being used as a pond with barramundi and was drained and cleaned prior to putting it on the market,” the listing by One Stop Property agents Sam Holt and Nickoli Obersky says.

“The pump and equipment were demonstrated to be functioning, however, the fence and gate need replacing.”

As a result, the property is being sold with a “Form 36 Notice of No Pool Certification” meaning the buyer who snags this sale will have 90 days to have it certified if they choose to use it as a swimming pool once again.

Beyond the pool, the house itself is described as “in need of a full refresh”.

Once a “beautiful family home”, it has four bedrooms, one bathroom and space for six vehicles.

There is a large outdoor entertaining space next to the “tropical pool”, and it sits on a 791sq m block with dual street access allowing plenty of room to store boats, caravans and trailers.

It is listed for offers over $340,000.
