Embraer triumphs: Record-breaking year with surging deliveries and unprecedented backlog – ACE (Aerospace Central Europe)

Date:

In an extraordinary display of resilience and growth, Embraer, a global leader in aerospace manufacturing, has reported a significant surge in its deliveries and backlog for the year 2023. The company, renowned for its innovation in aviation, achieved a 13% increase in aircraft deliveries compared to the previous year, reinforcing its position in the competitive aerospace industry.

Embraer’s delivery of 181 aircraft in 2023 marks a commendable rise from the 160 aircraft supplied in 2022. This achievement is particularly notable considering the ongoing challenges posed by supply chain disruptions. The diverse range of deliveries included 49 executive jets, 25 commercial jets, and a military C-390 jet in the fourth quarter alone, illustrating the company’s robust product portfolio.

The highlight of Embraer’s year was the record-breaking backlog, which reached a staggering US$18.7 billion, the highest since the first quarter of 2018. This represents a substantial increase of US$1.2 billion year-over-year. The backlog is a testament to the enduring demand for Embraer’s cutting-edge aircraft and its growing influence in the global aviation market.

In the Executive Aviation sector, Embraer outshined its previous records with the largest delivery volume in seven years. The segment’s backlog grew to US$4.3 billion, indicating sustained demand across its product range. The delivery of 74 light jets and 41 medium jets, both showing year-over-year growth, underscores the company’s mastery in this domain.

The Defense & Security unit saw significant achievements, notably with South Korea selecting the C-390 Millennium, marking Embraer’s entry into the Asian market. The year also saw the C-390 Millennium being chosen by Austria, the Czech Republic, and previously by the Netherlands. These selections are yet to be reflected in Embraer’s Defense & Security’s backlog, suggesting potential growth in the coming quarters.

Commercial Aviation also witnessed an uptick, with a 12% increase in E-Jets family deliveries and the E2 group’s deliveries more than doubling to 39 jets. The unit ended the year with a backlog of 298 aircraft, amounting to US$8.8 billion.

Furthermore, Embraer’s Services & Support sector concluded 2023 with a record backlog of US$3.1 billion. This growth is fueled by renewed contracts and the expansion of maintenance services for executive jets in the United States, doubling its capacity in this segment.

In summary, Embraer’s remarkable performance in 2023, marked by increased deliveries, an unprecedented backlog, and strategic expansions, underscores its agility and adaptability in the face of global market dynamics. This success story is a beacon of progress and innovation in the aerospace industry.
