Drucker + Falk Participates in Fourth Annual ‘Ultimate Backpack Supply Drive’ to Support Richmond City Public Schools

The generosity of our associates and residents resulted in nearly 3,000 school supplies being collected, which allowed for more students in our area to be armed with the tools they needed to start the school year on the right track.

Last month, the Virginia Apartment Management Association (VAMA) Central Virginia (CVA), Virginia’s premiere association representing more than 230,000 apartment homes and representing the rental housing industry by providing legislative and advocacy services, participated in the fourth annual Ultimate Backpack Supply Drive. The drive was hosted by Virginia Commonwealth University to benefit students of the Richmond County Public School System.

Of the 16 apartment communities that hosted supply drives and collected monetary donations, ten were Drucker + Falk (DF) managed properties: DECO at CNB, Highlands Woods Apartments, LakeRidge Square Apartments, Logans Landing, Millspring Commons, Saddlewood Apartments & Townhomes, Sapphire at Centerpointe, Tanglewood Apartments, The Winterfield at Midlothian, and Woodbriar Apartments.

On August 25th, unhindered by the summer heat and matching in their “VAMA Backpack Heroes” t-shirts more than 30 multifamily volunteers gathered to stuff over 12,325 backpacks in just five hours. Nearly 75 pallets of supplies (pencils, erasers, paper, index paper, notebooks, rulers, crayons, paint, glue sticks, scissors, and more) were loaded onto trucks and delivered to elementary and middle schools in the Richmond area days later.

Special congratulations are in order for Millspring Commons Apartments in Richmond, Virginia. A DF managed community that collected the most school supplies (1,404) and will receive VAMA | CVA’s 2021 Backpack Heroes Award at annual RAMMY Awards in January of next year.
