What would make gazillionaire Mark Cuban 3 hours for a hamburger?
It was his effort to show support for the only black-owned restaurant/bar in the West End of Dallas whose windows were smashed in the wake of the protests over the death of George Floyd.
But rather than rancor, the owner, Wes Williams, understood the pain, and in his Instagram picturing the broken glass noted that, for him, this was a “luxuary tax.”
He opened the restaurant the next day amid the shards and was shocked to see a line of customers waiting to get his neighborhood famous burger and fries.
Williams was able to wait out the Covid-19 closing with his takeout burger & vodka special, a PPP loan and a crowdfunding campaign that raised $11,270.
