The Australian computer scientist Craig Wright is still one of the most controversial individuals in the crypto space who said he invented bitcoin. However, the businessman was not able to provide enough evidence over the years to prove he is indeed Satoshi Nakamoto. Wright was a close friend of Dave Kleiman and they established a venture dubbed W&K Info Defense Research. However, Kleiman died in 2013 and caused even more controversy around the Bitcoin inventor.

SEC Charges Siblings, coin, scam, platform

The brother of David Kleiman, Ira Kleiman launched a lawsuit against Wright and the jury was required to evaluate the charges including whether the Australian was liable for stealing or fraud. While found liable for fraud, he was cleared of other claims and Wright had to pay $100 million in conversion for stealing Kleiman’s company in Florida. According to recent court documents, District Judge Beth Bloom ordered him to pay $43 million in prejudgment interest on damages. The company’s lawyers stated that the ruling set a historical precedent in the crypto industry.

“You use the wheel every day, but you don’t know who invented the wheel, and we use a lot of things every day not because we trust the guy who invented them but because they have a proven track record.”
