Complexity eliminate FaZe from BLAST Premier Fall Series

Date:

Complexity’s two-map victory over FaZe puts them through to the Group B consolidation final against BIG, where they will have the chance to qualify for the BLAST Premier Fall Finals if they can defeat the German team, while FaZe will have to wait for the Fall Showdown in late November to have another chance at making this season’s final BLAST Premier tournament.

FaZe, who are led by Marcelo “coldzera” David after losing star player and IGL Nikola “NiKo” Kovač to G2, will now have some time to go back to the drawing board and work out the kinks following the roster change ahead of IEM Beijing-Haidian Europe, as the Brazilian in-game leader said in today’s pre-game interview that they may not fill the gap left by NiKo immediately in hopes of finding the right leader to fit the team.

FaZe won a clean pistol round on the CT side of Nuke, going up 3-0 ahead of the first gun round, which they were also able to win to secure a 5-0 lead. The two teams then traded 1vs1 retake clutches after which Complexity popped off, winning four rounds in a row, giving up just one round until the last round of the half. Tied up 7-7, FaZe put up a strong defense on the top site to maintain the lead going into the attacking side.

FaZe increased their lead with a fast A play in the second pistol round, but weren’t able to plant the bomb in time the following round as Complexity won the forcebuy, going on to exert dominance on the defense as FaZe deflated and didn’t win another round on the attack. Two opening frags by Benjamin “blameF” Bremer and three AWP kills by Valentin “poizon” Vasilev got Complexity to match point in the twenty fourth round, after which they closed the map out 16-9 to take the lead in the series.

Kristian “k0nfig” Wienecke and William “RUSH” Wierzba both got USP doubles to get ahead on the CT side of Mirage. FaZe then got three kills and a plant in the forcebuy next round, but weren’t able to stop the retake. Complexity won the first gun round and took a 5-0 lead, after which six AWP kills by poizon across two rounds further kept FaZe scoreless. It wasn’t until the eleventh round that Helvijs “broky” Saukants and company were able to get on the board with a pistol buy on the A site, winning two more on the way to a 3-12 half.

Complexity won a 4vs3 afterplant situation after a quick bomb plant on the A site in the second pistol round, but weren’t able to follow it up against five Desert Eagles. FaZe then won three rounds in a row to keep the game going, and although they gave one up when Complexity could afford rifles, they immediately retaliated to keep the comeback dream alive. FaZe made it all the way to 10-14, but Justin “jks” Savage and blameF then won a 2vs2 to hit match point, which they went on to close out two rounds later, 16-12, to proceed to the BLAST Premier Fall Series consolidation final.
