‘Choose your work-from-office days’: Amazon to employees

Date:

Amazon was very eager to bring back its corporate employees to the office. This September, the Company was planning to bring back all its employees to work primarily from their physical office, but the pandemic situation in the US has not allowed the firm to do so. Since the delta variant is quite active in the US, the e-commerce giant had to further delay its return to office.

In a mail addressed to the employees, Andy Jassy, CEO, Amazon, has said that now the Company will let its team leaders, working at director level, decide how many days their teams would like to visit the office. Simply put, the Company has left it to is workforce to decide how best to serve their customers.

Jassy believes that it does not matter where people work from. If they feel they can serve the customers from home, they are free to do so and if they wish to visit the office, the office space is available for them to use whenever they wish to.

The Company employs 75,000 employees at its Seattle office and also has offices in San Francisco Bay area, New York City, Boston and the Los Angeles area. In the mail, Jassy also expressed his gratitude to all the people working in their designing, developing, and testing teams, who did not have the flexibility to work remotely, for their constant effort and determination, in spite of so many challenges the pandemic threw at them.

With the rising cases in the nation, the Company has further pushed back its decision to re-open offices, to January 2022.
