The fully renovated house at 228 Richmond Road, Morningside

A clanger of a house in Morningside has been transformed into a modern stunner.

Bought for $693,000 in May last year, the deceased estate had sat “dormant” for some time and hadn’t changed hands in 34 years.

The mid century facade had peeling paint, dirt stains and zero street appeal.

Inside, there was mould on the ceilings and paint peeling off, rubbish and household items scattered throughout, and the bathroom had tiles missing and dirt everywhere.

There were no doors on the wardrobe in one bedroom, dated wallpaper, and outside sat what very well could have been an outhouse.

But it sat on a 647sq m block just 8km from the city, and had a floorplan that included four bedrooms, one bathroom, a spacious lounge and dining room and a dine-in kitchen.

Fast-forward 12 months, and that same house is almost unrecognisable.

Fully renovated, the Palm Springs-style house still has four bedrooms, but there are mow two bathrooms.

The drab yard was transformed to include a white pebbled outdoor entertainment area.

Inside, there is an open-plan living and dining area, a modern kitchen with high-end appliances, a powder room featuring floor-to-ceiling tiles, an internal laundry and breeze-block-framed patiothat connects to a fully-fenced rear yard with mature gardens.

There is also a master bedroom with an ensuite, a main bathroom with golden-hued tapware and mirrored cabinetry and a free standing bath.

Other features include timber floors, full-height glass, a fresh white colour palette and ceiling fans.

The property also has a dual carport, plus additional off-street parking.

It is being marketed by Place Bulimba agent Joanna Gianniotis, with best offers closing at 5pm on April 4.
