Apple Car: Cupertino’s first (electric) car on the way

Date:

The Apple fanatic’s dream may soon become reality as CEO Tim Cook is about to sign an agreement with LG to produce the first 100% electric Apple Car

Apple wants to enter the automotive market. And it wants to do so, of course, in grand style. According to rumours leaked from South Korea, Cupertino CEO Tim Cook is about to sign a Memorandum of Understanding to start production of the Apple Car. It would be the first vehicle produced by the company founded by Steve Jobs: a 100% electric car with performances and design accessories in pure Apple style. To produce his first Apple Car, Cook has turned to electronics and battery specialist LG Electronics and car manufacturer Magna Steyr. There is already an agreement in principle between the three corporations and the final operational details are being discussed. The decisive signing is scheduled for July 2021. It is still unclear when production will start, but reliable sources assure that Apple would like to present the vehicle before the end of 2022 and launch it on the market by 2025.

The first Apple Car will be 100% electric

No word yet on the design and powertrain of the first Apple car. The only certainty is that it will be a 100% electric vehicle with LG Electronics batteries and high-tech on-board instruments. As with the iPhones, production will take place in various plants in the USA, China and South Korea. It is expected to involve 1,000 workers and create as many new jobs. Apple would like to start production as early as 2022 and conduct a market test in 2023 to assess the appeal of the product. The Apple brand is one of the most famous in the world, but for Apple this is an absolute debut – and even more so in the complex automotive sector. Until now, the Cupertino-based company has only produced smartphones, tablets, wearable devices and electronic gadgets. We’re sure that IPhone “fanatics” will be competing to get their hands on the apple car (certainly at a price that is not exactly accessible), but the reliability and safety of the Cupertino-designed electric car are still to be seen: we’ll just have to wait!
