Apex Legends’ Defiance Update is Out Now, With a New Character and More

Date:

Would you like to know about Apex Legends: Defiance? Well, tough, we’re not going to tell you. So there.

Sorry, but with a name like that there’s no way we could resist. If you’ve been following Apex Legends you’ll have been champing at the bit to get your hands on this update. And if not, then now’s as good a time as any to get to grips with this futuristic free-to-play FPS.

Apex Legends’ Defiance update adds new content to the game, not least so that players have a reason to keep playing and paying for cosmetic items. First of all, it adds a new character, Mad Maggie, a punk rock shotgun-wielding badass who can, amongst other things, hit enemies behind cover. Yes, we’re grinning at the mere thought of annihilating people when they think they’re safe.

Aside from Mad Maggie, the Olympus map has been given an overhaul, and there’s a new Control mode which sees two teams, nine players each, competing to control command posts. You can still shoot each other in the face but it’s holding onto those command posts that will count towards your win.

There’s also a new Battle Pass with new emotes, skins and so forth, which’ll cost you money – 950 Apex Coins, around £8.00. Yes, it’s not cheap, but at least the game as a whole is free. What less acceptable is finding microtransactions in a game you’ve paid full price for.

Apex Legends’ Defiance content is out right now, and you can download it for free on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and PC.
