Oculus Quest 2 has made its official appearance at Facebook Connect, ending months of speculation and leaks about the highly anticipated follow up. The headset features plenty of tweaks and improvements to enhance players virtual reality (VR) experiences as well as draw new ones into the VR fold. Oculus Quest 2

Plenty of info was accidentally released earlier this week via Facebook Blueprint, such as Oculus Quest 2 using the Qualcomm Snapdragon XR2 platform with 6GB RAM to play with. An upgraded headset needs an upgraded display, with Facebook stating Oculus Quest 2  has an ‘almost 4K display’.

With the official specification list now available it’s easier to dig into what lurks under the hood of Oculus Quest 2. This upgraded tech has been housed in a smaller body, with the entire unit weighting in at 503g – the original Quest was 571g for comparison.

There’s a Fast-switch LCD providing a resolution of 1832×1920 per eye for reduced screendoor effect, and the IPD is still manual, with three setting to select from. Check out the full spec list below.

  • Charge Time: ​With the provided USB-C power adapter, Quest 2 will charge to a full battery in about 2.5 hours.
  • IPD: ​Adjustable IPD with three settings for 58, 63 and 68mm.
  • Playspace:​ Stationary or Roomscale supported. Roomscale requires a minimum of 6.5feet x 6.5 feet of obstruction-free floor space.

Controllers:

  • Dimensions: ​9 x 12cm (per controller, includes tracking ring)
  • Weight:​ 126g (per controller, no battery installed)
