Seattle Surge defeat Florida Mutineers to contiunue at Stage 2 Major

Date:

Seattle Surge keep their playoff dreams alive after defeating the Florida Mutineers in the Losers Bracket of the CDL Stage 2 Major.

Seattle Surge started the Call of Duty League season with the same energy that they had in Modern Warfare. Despite a star-studded veteran lineup, the Surge were unable to perform against other teams. However, during Stage 2, Seattle Surge began to turn things around for the better. They were able to go 2-3 during Group B which put them in Losers Round 2 at the Major. Florida Mutineers has been wildly inconsistent during Stage 2, which had them placed at the bottom of Group B despite going 2-3. They were able to eliminate the Los Angeles Guerrillas during the first round of elimination. However, they were no match for the Seattle Surge who have now defeated them two times in Stage 2.

Seattle Surge continues to show promise over Florida

Moscow Hardpoint opened the best-of-five series and nearly went in the favor of the Seattle Surge. Seattle was down for a majority of the Hardpoint and was at one point down 195-233. An early rotation from Daniel “Loony” Loza and Preston “Prestinni” Sanderson brought Seattle Surge six points within the win. But Seattle was unable to get the rotation to the next hill and Florida pulled away with the win 250-244.

Express Search and Destroy was another close match-up between the two aquatic teams. The players on both sides were showing up in individual matches to bring the game to a round-eleven. Prestinni and Loony played the last round as slow and methodical as possible to pull out the win for the Surge. Garrison Control was heavily one-sided on the side of the Seattle Surge who have been known for their recent performances on the map. Everyone on Seattle went positive at the end of the map with Prestinni getting streaks to secure the victory for his team. Josiah “Slacked” Berry was the Achilles heel for the Florida Mutineers after he went triple negative at 4/15 for the map.

Outside of the Control, Florida and Seattle played each other as close as possible the entire series. Checkmate Hardpoint was no different with a scoreline of 250-222 in favor of the Seattle Surge. Peirce “Gunless” Hillman was the defining factor for the Surge as he went 32/21 to close out the series 3-1. Seattle Surge will move on to face against OpTic Chicago to continue their Losers Bracket run.
