According to Airport Director Rakesh Ranjan Sahay, the Swami Vivekananda Airport will provide another amenity for travellers after a third aero-bridge was tested on Thursday.
The facility was authorised following the testing by officials from the Airports Authority of India, Indigo Airlines, the operations and fire departments, and aircraft maintenance engineers, he added.
The trial documents will then be submitted for final clearance to the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA).
The aero-bridge, according to Sahay, should be available to the public within the next two weeks. Aerobridge boarding and deboarding is particularly beneficial to the elderly and others with limited mobility.
