Zooplus is working on marketplace

Date:

German online pet supply store Zooplus is planning to launch its own marketplace. By doing this, the platform will be able to quickly expand its product range. The launch of the marketplace is planned in November, but it is unclear in which regions.

Zooplus is an online store that sells pet supplies, such as pet toys and food. Earlier this year, the company expanded its subscription model, which then became available in 8 markets. This helps customers automate repeat purchases, like pet food, and set up frequencies for shipping. At the time, the company said that it would expand the subscription model into 20 European markets.

Launch end of this year

Earlier this week, Geoffroy Lefebvre, CEO of Zooplus, announced that the company is working on the launch of its own marketplace. He said that the online marketplace will launch in November. It is unclear whether the marketplace will be available in all of the company’s existing markets, or only in its home country, Germany.

‘We want to meet the needs of every pet parent’

With the new marketplace, the company will be able to quickly expand its product range. Lefebvre said that expanding the customer’s options is the main reason for the launch. “So that we can meet the needs of every pet parent.”

Higher valuation

So far, Zooplus had been holding off on creating a marketplace. According to German newspaper Lebensmittel Zeitung, the company will probably be valued higher because of the increase in revenue with the launch of a marketplace. This could make the company more attractive to potential future buyers.
