Woman caught with football-sized lump of cannabis in her car in Perth

Date:

A Perth woman found with a football-sized lump of cannabis in her car has been ordered to complete 225 hours of unpaid work.

Mandy Kerr (53) was caught with the drug at Kinnoull Causeway in Perth after police followed her in connection with another matter.

Perth Sheriff Court heard on Wednesday this week officers moved to question her while she was stopped in a car park and spotted the lump sitting on the passenger side seat of her vehicle.

“She was the only person in the car,” fiscal depute Bill Kermode told the court.

Mr Kermode said the lump was about the size of a football and was confirmed to be cannabis.

“She was detained for a search,” Mr Kermode went on. “Nothing was found on her person.”

He said the constables did find £206.06 in cash in her car, however.

“She was then arrested,” Mr Kermode continued. “She confirmed ownership of the vehicle. She provided no comment to questions about the herbal substance.”

The fiscal depute said the lump was later valued to be worth around £2500.

He added Kerr later admitted to being in financial hardship and had got involved in selling cannabis to “settle debts”.

A solicitor representing Kerr confirmed on Wednesday she wished to plead guilty to being concerned in supplying the drug to another or others at Kinnoull Causeway on July 15, 2020.
