ITA Airways is for sale. The Italian government is intent on signing a preliminary sale agreement of the new Italian flag carrier by the end of this month.
Lufthansa Chief Executive Carsten Spohr this past week met with ITA Airways Chairman Antonino Turicchi to discuss details of an acquisition.
If the sale is finally consumated, the Lufthansa Group would have a controlling share of the airline.
ITA Airways would retain its brand.
