Culturally Responsive Instruction is Moving the Needle for Schools
“I used to think this type of work may take a long time to ‘move the needle’ but I’ve already seen very productive and great adjustments being made that truly help our kids.” – School Leader, Norwood Public Schools, MA
“The sessions are well-paced, relevant, practical and visionary. The presenters are engaging, articulate and welcoming…Your agency continues to have a significant impact on the quality of teaching and learning.” – School Leader, Current Partner School, RI
What could culturally relevant instruction look like at your school? Explore Highlander Institute’s Culturally Responsive & Sustaining Pedagogy framework through a professional learning series. Engage your full staff in workshops that move through domains of Awareness, Community Building, Cognitive Development, and Critical Consciousness. Participants are offered context, practices, and specific strategies grounded in a strong research base.
Help Us Welcome Our Intern Rebecca Roberts
Rebecca Roberts has joined the Highlander Institute team as our Spring 2022 Intern! She will be assisting the Impact office as we validate version 2 of our Student Experience Survey and wrap up 2021-2022 school implementations.
Rebecca fell in love with statistics while completing her Master’s degree in Soil Science and Sustainable Agriculture at Iowa State University. She moved to Rhode Island and began a certified-organic vegetable farm, running it for 5 years until an injury in the field. To get back into data analysis, she began an MBA with a focus in Data Analytics at Providence College. She is excited to bring her experience with data to the educational system and work with a team that prioritizes equity in education.
