EVEN with an increase in the number of homes coming to market, finding an exciting entry level offering can be a tall order.
One year ago, when the median in Hobart was $585,000, the Mercury printed two Favourite Seven Homes of the Week Under the Median Value stories. One in March, another in August.
Quickly, we found that the homes on the hit list had gone from fresh to stale (sold, or under offer) in the two days between writing the yarn and it hitting the newsstand.
And today, the median is more like $750,000. For many young buyers, that’s got to be a non-starter.
If you are able to access the government’s Home Guarantee Scheme, the price cap is $600,000 in Hobart. So, let’s take a look at what you might be able to buy around Hobart for under that figure today.
