On your mark, get set, go! It’s nothing new that the crowdfunding industry has been facing for some time issues in terms of operational sustainability. That is possibly the reason why Crowdcube and Seedrs, two of the biggest British platforms, were trying to merge, till the FCA stopped the deal.
Meanwhile, the European Union finalized its projects to harmonize the market. Many analysts predicted how appealing the European market could become, also announcing its consolidation with a few big operators emerging. It didn’t take too long to see this in action.
Indeed, if on the one hand, the American WeFunder expressed its interest in the European market and SeedInvest started a collaboration with Crowdcube, on the other, it was Seedrs to be recently acquired by one of the leaders of the alternative finance industry, the American Republic.
So, the question is: will the global leadership of the global private investment pass from the old continent?
