Training provider sees interest for CPR training courses surge by 2,220%

Date:

After the Danish footballer, Christian Eriksen, collapsed in Saturday’s European Championship game against Finland, the British Heart Foundation has highlighted the importance of CPR and defibrillator training1. According to the BHF, just one in ten people survive an out-of-hospital cardiac arrest in the UK, and every minute without CPR and defibrillation decreases a person’s chances of survival by up to 10%.

According to the online training provider, High Speed Training, positive steps are already being taken, reporting on the dramatic impact following Erikson’s collapse. The training provider has seen a huge 2,220% increase in searches for CPR training courses, a 707% increase in interest for First Aid courses, and a 160% increase in searches for First Aid Training since the 12th June.

Dr. Richard Anderson, an e-learning specialist at High Speed Training comments: “Thankfully, Christian Eriksen was surrounded by highly experienced medics and was given emergency CPR, before being rushed to hospital after his collapse. However, this unfortunately isn’t an environment most people will find themselves in.

“This highlights how crucial it is to be trained in CPR and First Aid, particularly in the workplace, with this being where we spend the majority of our time. Whilst it is incredibly positive to see such a huge surge in interest for courses around CPR and First Aid Training, it’s vital that we continue to raise awareness around how important workplace first aid training is, and that employees are actively encouraged to become qualified.”

High Speed Training’s Workplace First Aid Training course is CPD and IIRSM accredited, and covers CPR, AEDs, First Aid during Covid-19, and treating injuries amongst other key  topic areas. For more information, visit: https://www.highspeedtraining.co.uk/available-courses/health-safety.aspx
