Thaysen leaving Agilent to become CEO of Illumina

Jacob Thaysen will become CEO of Illumina Inc. (NASDAQ:ILMN) on Sept. 25. Thaysen was SVP and president of the life sciences and applied markets group at Agilent Technologies Inc. (NYSE:A), where he was succeeded by Philip Binns, a company VP and general manager of the spectroscopy and vacuum division. Thaysen succeeds Francis deSouza, who resigned in June amid a proxy battle with activist investor Carl Icahn. Charles Dadswell, interim CEO, will return to his post as SVP and general counsel once Thaysen joins the company.

Cantor Fitzgerald added Josh Schimmer and Eric Schmidt to its healthcare and biotechnology research team. Schimmer was a senior managing director on Evercore ISI’s biotech research team. Schmidt, a longtime Cowen analyst, was most recently CFO at Allogene Therapeutics Inc. (NASDAQ:ALLO). …
