Tech & Learning Announces 2022-23 Dates for Regional Leadership Summit Series

Tech & Learning’s Regional Leadership Summits drew hundreds of innovative district administrators from across the country last year. Based on the positive feedback we received for this event, we have launched a new series for the 2022-23 school year.

Tech & Learning’s Regional Leadership Summits bring together the district leaders in a relaxed setting where attendees can talk candidly about how to develop effective district strategic plans. Each free-to-attend summit focuses on the unique needs of the region to give attendees the valuable insight they need to develop action plans. Tech & Learning can also cover a two-night hotel stay for qualified attendees.

WORKING AGENDA 

Each Tech & Learning Regional Leadership Summit follows an agenda that maximizes the opportunity for learning and networking with colleagues. Below is a sample working agenda:

DAY ONE:

Welcome Dinner

DAY TWO:

8:30 AM – 9:00 AM: Registration & Breakfast

9:00 AM – 9:30 AM: Welcome and Introductions

Edtech luminary and international keynote speaker Carl Hooker (opens in new tab) brings his enthusiasm and passion for education to the Austin Summit as our host and MC for the day. Carl has been a part of a strong educational shift with technology integration during his 23 years in education, and he will facilitate fun and interactive conversations throughout the day to ensure attendees walk away with innovative ideas they can put into action. 

9:30 – 10:00 AM: Keynote: Ready, Ready, Set, FAIL! Using Failure and Risk-taking to Unlock Creativity and Innovation 

Our schools have traditionally existed to teach students conformity and compliance. Carl Hooker’s keynote explores how we can create a space where students create innovative ideas to solve the problems of tomorrow? Risk-taking and embracing failure can be great ways to stimulate creativity in the classroom. During this very interactive session based on the best selling book Ready, Set, FAIL!, we’ll discuss the science behind failure and the roadblocks to creativity. After all, It’s not how you fall down, it’s how you get back up!

10:00 AM – 12:00 PM: Working Groups & Partner Meetings

Attendees either participate in a facilitated small-group discussions focused on important topics related to strategic planning or meet with industry partners. Sample topics include:

12:00 PM – 1:00 PM: Networking Lunch & Meet Our Partners

1:00 PM – 3:00 PM: Working Groups & Partner Meetings

Attendees either participate in a facilitated small-group discussions focused on important topics related to strategic planning or meet with industry partners.

3:15 PM – 4:30 PM: APPMazing Race Activity  

Attendees participate in a festive round of Carl Hooker’s “APPMazing Race.” Teams will be assigned a set of activities that get everyone up and moving as they collaborate to solve a series of challenges that teach team building, creativity, and problem-solving. All winning team members receive an Amazon gift card!

4:30 PM – 5:00 PM: Awards Ceremony 

The winners of the Tech & Learning Innovative Leader awards will be announced. See more details below. 

INNOVATIVE LEADER AWARDS

As part of our Regional Live Summits, Tech & Learning will recognize exceptional district administrators in select regions around the country who are leading innovation in their schools with our Tech & Learning Innovative Leader Awards (opens in new tab). We’re seeking district leaders who are reimagining and reinventing education by developing and launching unique and forward-thinking programs, policies, and best practices that have shown to have a positive impact and are also replicable at other districts. 

All finalists will receive an invitation to the Tech & Learning Regional Summit in their region, including a two-night hotel stay at the event. The winners will be announced at the closing session of the summit. All finalists will be profiled in an issue of Tech & Learning and will receive a Tech & Learning Innovative Leader Award Seal that can be added to all district websites, etc.
