Spanish esports organisation Team Heretics has partnered with blockchain gaming community Ola Guild to launch a new division dedicated to the competitive web3 scene.
Named Ola Heretics, the division will hold tryouts to sign team members through Ola Guild’s Discord channel. According to the announcement on Twitter, Team Heretics will have active participation throughout the talent selection process.
Selected Ola Heretics players will represent the organisation by competing in blockchain gaming titles. According to Team Heretics Cofounder Jorge ‘Goorgo’ Orejudo, the partnership is the result of a “constant search for new possibilities for the club”.
Through the partnership, Ola and Team Heretics are not only aiming at expanding in Spain but plan to target Spanish-speaking Latin America. In an interview with Forbes Argentina, Ola Guild CEO Martín Blaquier said that no obstacles will be set to anyone interested to be a member of the Discord community.
Also in Forbes Argentina, Blaquier said that esports is a critical part of blockchain gaming’s growth and that the partnership with Heretics is a way to help pave the path. He explained that, initially, every player will have the opportunity to train and improve, but then the best will be selected to be part of a competitive team participating in international tournaments.
The announcement continues Team Heretics’ impressive expansion. The organisation acquired a franchise slot in the League of Legends European Championship (LEC) and was accepted into Riot Games’ VALORANT Champions Tour partnership programme as an EMEA representative. The team also recently conquered League of Legends’ Amazon European Masters, winning the tournament’s Summer 2022 title.
Ola Guild is stated as the biggest Spanish-speaking community within blockchain gaming. Its Discord channel will not only be used for tryouts for Ola Heretics but also to educate players on blockchain gaming titles.
