The Artful Escape will be released on January 25th for PS5, PS4, and Nintendo Switch, Annapurna Interactive has confirmed. The game will launch at the price of $19.99. The Artful Escape released previously on Xbox consoles and PC in September 2021. The Artful Escape did very well during our Game of the Year awards, winning both Best Original Soundtrack and Best Visual Design. The description for the game reads: “The Artful Escape is a musical narrative adventure about a teenage guitar prodigy who sets out on a psychedelic, multidimensional journey to inspire his stage persona. Through light platforming, intergalactic guitar jam sessions and snazzy character customization, players step into the shoes of Francis Vendetti as he faces the shadow of his late uncle, a deceased folk legend, on the eve of Francis’s first show” In our review for The Artful Escape, Dom wrote: “The Artful Escape is an enigmatic coming of age story, wrapped in reverb-laden riffs and space opera shenanigans. It is quite unique, and absolutely unmissable.” Source: Press Release
"A teenage guitar prodigy sets out on a psychedelic, multidimensional journey to inspire his stage persona and confront the legacy of a dead folk legend. Starring voice performances by Michael Johnston, Caroline Kinley, Lena Headey, Jason Schwartzman, Mark Strong, and Carl Weathers."
The Artful Escape is planning a headline show for PlayStation 5 and PS4, if a newly found PS Store listing is to be believed. Discovered by Well Played AU, the game from developer Beethoven & Dinosaur can be wishlisted on the digital marketplace before an official announcement has even been made. As such, it's very safe to say this PS5, PS4 port is happening in the near future. The release date is simply listed as "coming soon" for now.
The title first launched last year for PC and Xbox platforms, releasing to positive reviews. Our sister site Pure Xbox awarded the game an 8/10, calling it "a fantastic musical odyssey". It's a psychedelic adventure about escaping the musical legacy of a relative. How protagonist Francis Vendetti does that is very much outside the realms of reality.
