Square Enix has announced, via the medium of Twitter, that Octopath Traveller: Heroes of the Continent is coming to the west later this year. If you haven’t heard... Continue reading
ConnecTank’s central mechanic is surprisingly well realised, backed up with plenty to flesh out the world of New Pangea. However, due to the repetitive and somewhat simplistic gameplay this is one the casual gamers will enjoy the most.
Rockstar has reiterated that GTA Online will be free for PlayStation 5 owners to download and play, beginning from its launch on 15th March. You’ll have three months to claim the game and add it to your library. It’s worth pointing out that you will need a PS Plus subscription in order to take advantage of this offer, but you can’t play the mode without it anyway.
To clarify, this is a standalone version of the multiplayer mode, and will not entitle you to the single player campaign, as that will be sold separately. The re-release will feature a new onboarding system called the Career Builder, which will provide you with instant access to a criminal empire of your choice: Biker, Executive, Nightclub Owner, or Gunrunner.
Originally released in 2018, Vox Machinae is a gem of a VR mech game that’s well loved by those that have played it. Though the title looked destined to remain focused on multiplayer, the developer today made the surprise announcement that it plans to release a fully featured single player campaign this year. Vox Machinae has a […]
Gran Turismo creator Kazunori Yamauchi doesn’t just love cars – he worships them. Addressing media as part of a virtual presentation earlier this week, the industry veteran appeared to express sadness that younger generations may not share the same level of passion that he has for the automotive industry. His solution is Gran Turismo 7, the latest numbered entry in Polyphony Digital’s long-running driving simulation series – and the game he hopes will spark interest in an entirely new era of automobile aficionados.
Gran Turismo 7 will require an Internet connection. As previously reported, you’ll need to have your console online in order to enjoy single player modes like the campaign and GT Café, as well as features like the livery editor. While it’s not yet clear which modes will be available offline, predecessor GT Sport limited gameplay to just the Arcade mode, which is obviously a fraction of the overall experience.
Asked directly about the reasoning behind this decision, series creator Kazunori Yamauchi explained that it’s to prevent cheating. He insinuated that the only way to ensure save files aren’t hacked or edited is by storing them on Polyphony Digital’s servers, and therefore you’ll need an Internet connection in order to make progress in offline modes.
Aw sh*t, here we go again: it’s time for the classic contrarian video game website opinion to stoke comments and clicks. Most people are mad about Sony’s decision to make more live service games, and now this chump has come along to tell you why you’re wrong all along. It’s a tale as old as time, and clickbait at its finest, but hear me out – I genuinely think there’s reason to be excited here.
I actually acknowledged in my roundly criticised Game of the Year article over Christmas that I’m less enamoured with the one-and-done single player campaigns of yore, and I think I’m lockstep with Sony’s strategy here. I like service games; I enjoy titles that add new content regularly, and keep me entertained with time-based events, like in Fortnite and Call of Duty: Warzone.
