Call of Duty: Vanguard the second best selling game.

The PlayStation 5 has topped NPD hardware charts in the US for the month of January 2022. While exact sales stats aren't shared, Sony's latest system was the best selling platform in both units sold and dollars earned. It beat out the Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch simply based on the fact Sony managed to produce enough consoles to make it to the top. Supply and demand are still completely out of whack, however.

Elsewhere, Call of Duty: Vanguard was once again the best selling PS5, PS4 title, but it didn't shift the most copies overall. That accolade went to Pokémon Legends: Arceus, which sold best across all platforms in January. Rainbow Six Extraction was the only noteworthy new entry in the PlayStation specific chart for the month, debuting in fifth position. The rest of the top 10 is made up of Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales, sports titles, Ghost of Tsushima, Battlefield 2042, and Far Cry 6.

Head of PlayStation studios Herman Hulst has revealed that over 20m copies of Horizon Zero Dawn have now been sold across PS4 and PC.

Along with this heady number, Hulst additionally revealed that players have spent over 1bn hours playing through Aloy's debut adventure.

Disgaea 6 Complete is the, er, complete version of the crazy strategy RPG that released for Nintendo Switch last year. The latest entry in NIS' long running series, it's packed with all the comedic charm that you'd expect, and our pals over at Nintendo Life recommend it in their Disgaea 6 review. Thankfully, the performance issues that the game suffered on Switch shouldn't be a problem on Sony's systems.

Touted as the most accessible Disgaea yet, it's got loads of quality of life upgrades, and for the first time in franchise history, it uses 3D character models instead of sprites. Outside of that, though, this is still very much a Disgaea game, boasting all of the absurd gameplay depth that hardcore fans enjoy.
