Here’s how online shoppers are finding inspirationHere’s how online shoppers are finding inspirationDirector of Marketing, Commerce

People shop across Google more than a billion times a day — and we have a pretty good sense of what they’re browsing for. For instance, our Search data shows that the early 2000’s are having a moment. We’re seeing increased search interest in “Y2k fashion” and products like bucket hats and ankle bracelets. Also popular? The iconic Clinique “Happy” perfume, Prada crochet bags and linen pants.

While we know what’s trending, we also wanted to understand how people find inspiration when they’re shopping for lifestyle products. So we surveyed 2,000 U.S. shoppers of apparel, beauty and home decor for our first Inspired Shopping Report. Read on to find out what we learned.

Shopping isn’t always a checklist

According to our findings, most fashion, beauty and home shoppers spend up to two weeks researching products before they buy them. Many, though, are shopping online just for fun — 65% say they often or sometimes shop or browse online when they’re not looking for anything in particular. To help make online shopping even easier and more entertaining, we recently added more browsable search results for fashion and apparel shopping queries. So when you search for chunky loafers, a lime green dress or a raffia bag on Google, you’ll scroll through a visual feed with various colors and styles — alongside other helpful information like local shops, style guides and videos.

Inspiration can strike anywhere

We know shopping inspiration can strike at any moment. In fact, 60% of shoppers say they often or sometimes get inspired or prompted to buy something even when they aren’t actively shopping. That can come from spotting great street style: 39% of shoppers say they often or sometimes look for a specific outfit online after they see someone wearing it. Or it can come from browsing online: 48% of shoppers have taken a screenshot of a piece of clothing, accessory or home decor item they liked (and 70% of them say they’ve searched for or bought it afterwards). Google Lens can help you shop for looks as soon as you spot them. Just snap a photo or screenshot and you’ll find exact or similar results to shop from.

Sometimes words aren’t enough

We know it can be hard to find what you’re looking for using words alone, even when you do have an image — like that multi-colored, metallic floral wallpaper you took a photo of that would go perfectly with your living room rug. Half of shoppers say they often or sometimes have failed to find a specific piece of clothing or furniture online after trying to describe it with just words. And 66% of shoppers wished they could find an item in a different color or print.

To help you track down those super specific pieces, we’re introducing an entirely new way to search — using text and images at the same time. With multisearch on Lens, you can better uncover the products you’re looking for even when you don’t have all the words to describe them. For example, you might be on the lookout for a scarf in the same pattern as one of your handbags. Just snap a photo of the patterned handbag on Lens and add the query “scarf” to complete your look. Or take a photo of your favorite heels and add the query “flats” to find a more comfortable version.

Trying before you buy matters

It’s not always possible to make it to the store and try something on before you buy it — but it matters. Among online beauty shoppers, more than 60% have decided not to purchase a beauty or cosmetic item online because they didn’t know what color or shade to choose, and 41% have decided to return an item because it was the wrong shade. With AR Beauty experiences, you can virtually discover and “try on” thousands of products from brands like Maybelline New York, M.A.C. and Charlotte Tilbury — helping you make more informed decisions. And now, shoppers can try on cosmetics from a variety of brands carried at Ulta Beauty right in Google Search. Just search for a product, like the Morphe Matte Liquid Lipstick or Kylie Cosmetics High Gloss, and find the best shade for you.

No matter where you find your shopping inspiration, we hope these features and tools help you discover new products, compare different options and ultimately make the perfect purchase.

Pokemon Go Tapu Bulu Raid Guide: Best Counters, Weaknesses, Raid Hours, And More Tips

Niantic has announced the full slate of five-star raids for Pokemon Go in April, and trainers should prepare to face off against the third Alolan island guardian starting April 12.

Tapu Bulu, the game's third Legendary Pokemon hailing from the Alolan region, has been named as the latest Pokemon Go five-star raid, running from now until April 26. Tapu Bulu's time as the five-star raid Pokemon was announced along with the Pokemon Go April 2022 event schedule, which runs concurrently with the game's Season of Alola event introducing Pokemon Sun and Moon to the game.

Tapu Bulu is the third "Tapu" Pokemon to be introduced to Pokemon Go, with Tapu Koko and Tapu Lele already in the game and only Tapu Fini still to come. If you caught Tapu Koko and Tapu Lele you're on your way to completing the set, so if you're going to challenge the Tapu Bulu raid check out our tips below.

Tapu Bulu will be the featured five-star raid April 12-26, with two special Raid Hours planned during that time.

Tapu Bulu Raid Schedule

Tapu Bulu enters the five-star Raid ring starting April 12 at 10 AM local time, remaining there until 8 PM on April 26. Unfortunately the game does not follow any set schedules with its raid--there's no guarantee Tapu Bulu will be waiting for you--but the game constantly tells you who's around to raid, so just keep an eye out.

There is a glimmer of hope for those who need a Tapu Bulu appearance though: Pokemon Go's weekly Raid Hour on Wednesday night. Two of April's Raid Hour events--April 13 and 20 from 6 PM to 7 PM local time--will feature the Land Spirit Pokemon at nearly every Gym in the game. If you want a guaranteed shot at Tapu Bulu, gather your friends and head out after dinner on those two Wednesday nights.

Tapu Bulu Weaknesses And Counters

Tapu Bulu is a Grass- and Fairy-type Pokemon, a rare type duo in the world of Pokemon shared only by four other Pokemon: Generation V's Cottonee and Whimsicott, and Generation VII's Morelull and Shiinotic. While Tapu Bulu's typing is hard to find elsewhere, its five weaknesses should make building a team to counter it much easier to pin down.

Poison-type Pokemon are Tapu Bulu's Poke-Kryptonite, with Poison-type moves seeing increased effectiveness against both Grass and Fairy Pokemon. As such, Weezing, Nidoking/Nidoqueen, Muk, and Gengar will be invaluable in a fight with this island deity.

Fire-, Flying-, Ice-, and Steel-type moves are also extra effective against Tapu Bulu, so any mixture of Skarmory, Charizard--perhaps the Mega Charizard Y you caught in the current Mega Raid--Ho-Oh, Articuno, or Alolan Ninetales will be helpful in the battle ahead.

Types To Avoid

The Grass- and Fairy-type Tapu Bulu is resistant to seven Pokemon types, nearly half of the 18 types featured in Pokemon games, so there are plenty of Pokemon to avoid. Dark-, Dragon-, Electric-, Fighting-, Grass-, Ground-, and Water-type Pokemon will all be battling from behind against Tapu Bulu, so leave traditionally powerful Pokemon like Blastoise, Dragonite, Lucario, Umbreon, and Absol behind when challenging the raid.

There's still some time before Tapu Bulu joins the five-star raid roster, so get yourself ready by catching as many Grass-types as you can during the current Lush Jungle event, or take on the current five-star raid Tapu Lele if you haven't done so already.

Pokemon Go Thundurus Therian Forme Raid Guide: Best Counters, Weaknesses, Raid Hours, And More Tips

Niantic has announced the full slate of raids for Pokemon Go in April, and trainers will meet the second Therian Forme of a Unova-region legendary beginning April 5.

Thundurus Therian Forme is on its way to Pokemon Go once again, featuring as the five-star raid April 5-12. It follows Tornadus Therian Forme's run as the top raid which ran from March 15 to March 20. Thundurus Therian Forme's time as a five-star raid Pokemon was announced along with the Pokemon Go April 2022 event schedule, which runs concurrently with the game's Season of Alola event introducing Pokemon Sun and Moon to the game.

Thundurus Therian Forme is the second of three Therian Forme legendaries to rotate into the five-star raid scene, with the final member of the trio Landorus Therian Forme entering the arena April 26. If you caught Tornadus and plan on taking on Landorus, you might as well challenge the Thundurus raid as well, so check out our tips below.

Thundurus Therian Forme returns to Pokemon Go in mid-April.

Thundurus Therian Forme Raid Schedule

Thundurus Therian Forme enters the five-star Raid ring starting April 5 at 10 AM local time, remaining there until 8 PM on April 12. Unfortunately the game does not follow any set schedules with its raid--there's no guarantee Thundurus will be charging into a Gym for a battle--but the game constantly tells you who's around to raid, so just keep an eye out.

There is one hope for those who need a Thundurus Therian Forme appearance though: Pokemon Go's weekly Raid Hour on Wednesday nights. The Raid Hour event on April 6--running from 6 PM to 7 PM local time--will feature the Bolt Strike Pokemon at nearly every Gym in the game. If you want a guaranteed shot at Thundurus Therian Forme, gather your friends and head out after dinner on April 6.

Thundurus Therian Forme And Counters

Thundurus Therian Forme is an Electric- and Flying-type Pokemon, a combination that does not yield very many weaknesses. In fact, only two of Pokemon's 18 types will produce extra damage to this beast, so it's important to know what those are and plan accordingly.

Ice- and Rock-type Pokemon are the only two Pokemon types with moves that will deal extra damage to Thundurus Therian Forme. Unfortunately the only Pokemon in existence with that dual-typing, Generation VI's Aurorus, isn't in Pokemon Go yet, so you'll have to get creative with your team. Alolan Ninetales is a solid choice for this raid, as it's a powerful attacker with no weakness to Thundurus's attacks, while Beartic, Lycanroc, Sudowoodo, and two of the three Regis in Regirock and Regice will also make great choices.

Types To Avoid

Thundurus has triple the amount of resistances that it has weaknesses, meaning one-third of all Pokemon types will do reduced damage in the heat of battle. Bug-, Fighting-, Flying-, Grass-, Ground-, and Steel-type Pokemon are all weak against Thundurus's Electric- and Flying-type barrage, so do not bring any Pokemon or use any attacks of those types and you should be home free.

There's still some time before Thundurus Therian Forme joins the five-star raid roster, so get yourself ready by taking on the current five-star raid Tapu Lele or the Mega Charizard Y Mega Raid if you haven't done so already.
