Life is Strange Remastered Collection — Is it worth it?

Life Is Strange Remastered Collection Worth It 1Whenever a new batch of consoles shows up, we can always be sure that certain games from the last several years will get remasters. Typically, this means people on consoles get access to the games at much higher resolutions and framerates. For PC players, it can depend. We may see both good and bad changes to textures, geometry, and lighting without much to really entice owners of the originals. Life is Strange Remastered Collection is guilty of all of this, plus the former game has a couple of bugs I’ve already noticed. These are both great games, but is Life is Strange Remastered Collection worth it on PC? If you’ve never played any games in the series, the first entry, Life is Strange is the story of a high school student named Max who returns to the town of Arcadia Bay, Oregon after having lived in Seattle for a few years. One day in class, she has a dream about an enormous storm tearing the town apart, before waking up and witnessing a murder in a nearby restroom. I...

Review: Dying Light 2 (PS5) – Good Sequel Hurt by Expectation

Mirror's undead.

Sequels are a tricky thing to handle. Do you iterate slightly and deliver more of what fans loved the first time around, or reach for the stars with new ways to play and mechanics? Both approaches work, but Dying Light 2 finds itself in the strange situation where it was pitched as the latter but actually resembles the former. Techland talked a big game in the years leading up to the sequel's release, promising meaningful choices and real consequences for your actions. Dying Light 2 is not that game.

Instead, it's a solid follow-up to the 2015 fan favourite. That intense melee-focused combat system is back for a second round along with those sublime parkour mechanics. They're enough to convince you to take up the activity in your spare time — it all feels that good. It's simple, really: if you enjoyed the first game, you'll also like Dying Light 2.

Here’s a Life is Strange: Remastered comparison

Life Is Strange Remastered 1The original Life is Strange is a bit of a modern classic, beloved by many who were enamored by its fun time rewinding concept and grounded story. Life is Strange: Remastered wasn’t all that necessary, as the original game has held up fairly well. That being said, this new version offers some undeniable improvements that make the game look more modern than before. However, it might not be enough that people who own the original should necessarily scramble to upgrade. Before the Storm also received a remastered version, but since there are more changes in the original (and it’s an older game), I thought it better to focus on the first. As for what’s different about the visuals in Life is Strange: Remastered, the largest difference is that the facial animations have been mocapped to make things less stilted. Faces animate differently now, but they’re still constrained some by the character models, so this doesn’t make the biggest difference in the world. ...
