Unfortunately, the War on Drugs has made it difficult for African Americans to succeed in the cannabis industry. It’s also harder on Black Americans, who are 4 times more likely to be arrested for marijuana-related charges compared to white people. For them, getting a slice of the cannabis pie is much more challenging. Because of that, and because it’s Black History Month, here are some of the most notable African American pioneers in cannabis that deserve recognition for their achievements in the challenging industry.
