With Massive Community Backing, NEVR Token Enters Presale Period

Last year, the media latched onto the story of Squid Game Token, a token on the Binance Smart Chain (BSC) that flew to a staggering multi-million dollar marketcap before the developers locked the trades and stole the liquidity, in a move known colloquially as a “rug pull.” To onlookers, the crime seemed extraordinary, but to those well-acquainted with the ecosystem, it was anything but.

In the world of decentralized finance (DeFi), rugpulls and similar “Boiler Room” style scams such as honeypots are somewhat commonplace and are treated almost like an occupational hazard to be avoided; indeed, one can even purchase their own honeypot scam on Fiverr for as little as $15. However, one team of developers, recognizing the danger posed by these criminal elements, has decided to take matters into their own hands with a new project called NeverRug, launching on the BSC on March 1st.

The vision of NeverRug may be grand: to provide a regulating force within the DeFi ecosystem and rid it of fraud to restore investor confidence and foster growth; however, their two-prong approach is simple.

A Capital "C" Community Token

The first part is building a foundation of education, rooted around a community–something that is well-underway, according to developer and team spokesman Kevin Glynn, who comes to the project from a background in financial technology.

“We previously did a quiet test-launch of the NeverRug concept, and the support from the community was so great that we decided to pool our resources and give it a proper launch. From this community, we hope to see a wellspring of safe, vetted projects that can grow with mutual support and promotion.”

The second prong of the approach comes from the technology the team brings to the table: the NeverRug software will build upon risk assessment AI already utilized by some insurance companies to assign projects a “Pull Score.” This software will analyze the important metrics of DeFi projects in ways that eclipse all current competitors, and will strive to become the standard rating system within the environment.

“Most scanners out there just read contracts and flag functions commonly used by scammers, however, their scope is somewhat limited and prone to errors–shady developers know how to game those metrics to look good, and honest developers are often misclassified as bad actors,” says Glynn, “through holistic methodology, we aim to change that.”

Preserving the DeFi Environment

This form of analysis includes analyzing the media presence of a project both on socials and more traditional outlets, and incorporating those metrics into the overall score. For example, a project could have a sizable following on social media, which would be a net positive, but the software could dig deeper and, through analysis, uncover that a majority of the following is just ‘bots,' which would count against their overall score.

“This is only our first step though,” explains Glynn, from his office in Cambridge, “from there, we plan to provide more in-depth audits of projects that we can, in turn, share with our community. Our mascot is Pully, an orangutan who also serves a forest guardian; that's how we see ourselves in this project. We see an intrinsic value in this ecosystem, something good that's worth protecting, and we think we can be the ones to foster positive growth here, and that's what we plan to do.”

NeverRug Token will launch on the Binance Smart Chain on March 1st, but pre-sale information is now available at the NeverRug Website where the token will be for sale after launch, as well as through the Flooz.Trade and PancakeSwap exchanges. You can follow the NeverRug Project channel, or the community channel in Pully's Lounge Telegram, or read the NeverRug whitepaper.

Halo Infinite Competitive Ranks Have Been Reset As 343 Rolls Out Major CSR Changes

Right on schedule, 343 Industries has released the big Competitive Skill Ranking (CSR) update for Halo Infinite that makes several notable changes and resets all ranks.

The update was released on February 22, and it does not require any download. Players will immediately notice that their ranks have been reset and the overall skill rating system is now changed. In short, the original system had issues with rank inflation, inaccurate skill assessment, and uneven player skills in matches, which is what prompted 343 to make these new changes.

Going forward, players will need to play 10 placement matches to get their new rank.

The original CSR system was being "overly generous," 343 said in its original announcement, and the update should help "bring things closer in line to where they should be." As such, players will likely find themselves a full tier lower than before--for example, Diamond-ranked players will become Platinum.

Here are some further specifics about the upcoming CSR changes, as written by 343:

  • As mentioned above, since the system was placing players too high, every player will likely find themselves one tier lower after this update. Please keep in mind that this is not due to an error in the new system, but an error in the old one.
  • Typically, after you complete your placement matches, your CSR is a little lower than where the system thinks you'll end up after playing for a while. This happened in Halo 5 as well because it helps start each rank reset (typically during a Season rollover) off fresh and provides players room to progress their CSR rank. Since ranks are being reset in the middle of the season, this will be reduced to help make sure you have a shorter climb after your placement matches.
  • At launch, Diamond 1 was the highest CSR players could land at after completing their 10 placement matches. Much like above, since we’re resetting ranks in the middle of the season, we want to reduce the disruption it may cause by raising this to Diamond 5. This will not affect most players, but it will mean Onyx players will spend less time in Diamond since the system already knows that they are likely an Onyx player.

There will be another update coming to Halo Infinite this week as well. The Halo Infinite mid-season update, which includes changes, fixes, and improvements for multiplayer and campaign, is scheduled for release on Thursday, February 24.

UMP Healthcare Offers Free Telemedicine Service to COVID-19 Patients

HONG KONG, Feb 23, 2022 - (ACN Newswire) - UMP Healthcare Holdings Limited ("UMP" or the "Group"; SEHK: 722) has announced that its affiliate, UMP Charity Foundation Limited (the "Charity Foundation"), will donate first batch of donation of HK$500,000 to support patients diagnosed with COVID-19 through the provision of free medical video consultation, or 'telemedicine' services and the expansion of the Sinovac vaccination service at the Group's medical centres. It is anticipated that at least 10,000 people in need will benefit from these services in the next month. An additional donation may be committed when needed.

Telemedicine service allows patients to get the doctor's immediate advice without leaving home.

As the number of new COVID-19 cases rapidly increases, patients with confirmed infections are stuck at home waiting for hospital admission or in isolation, and many elderly people, adults, and children urgently need medical consultations. UMP will provide free telemedicine services for relevant patients in response to current needs and the Hospital Authority's call to support anti-epidemic efforts. Patients who have been confirmed infections, preliminary infections or have self-tested positive using rapid antigen tests can register online for the service. A video consultation with a doctor will be arranged during designated service hours and they will be provided with any required medication if necessary. The consultation could help to alleviate patients' concern and enable them to receive treatment without leaving their home. Donations from the Charity Foundation will fully subsidise the costs of the consultation services, medicine and support for all related matters.

In addition, given the rapid increase of vaccination demand, 11 of the Group's medical centres are gearing up to support the Sinovac vaccination service. UMP will also set up an additional vaccination point at the UMP Wellness & Metabolic Centre in Central to provide extra services for seniors and children, who are considered priority groups for protection. There will be specialist doctors and registered nurses in attendance at the centre to evaluate those who wish to be vaccinated and confirm their recommendations. They will also answer questions and follow up with those who have received the vaccination, reducing anxiety and worries of those in need.

Dr. Sun Yiu Kwong, Chairman and CEO of UMP, and Director of UMP Charity Foundation, said, "UMP hopes to fulfil its responsibilities as a corporate and professional medical institution to help the public amid the severe epidemic in Hong Kong. Our medical team is also ready to do its best to reduce the pressure on the public medical system, provide support to those in need and have a positive impact on society. Meanwhile, we express our condolences to those affected by the epidemic and hope that our actions can provide immediate warmth."

Telemedicine service hours are Monday to Friday, 9am to 6pm, with limited service available in the evenings and Saturdays. To register, please visit https://bit.ly/3H2IzY8.

The United States faces real and significant security threats in space, but efforts to develop an effective space strategy must begin with a more clear-eyed net assessment. Promoting space cooperation with China would also help to dampen hype around a space race.
