Ethereum is one of the prominent blockchains in the crypto industry that established smart contract technology. This helped consolidate decentralized finance and checkmate third-party interference in cryptocurrency transactions. But in the past, its main challenge and setback were linked to scalability and speed in executing transactions. As the months and years roll by, Ethereum is making tremendous progress in tackling scalability issues. This led to the rolling out of the layer-two version of the blockchain. If It Is, They’ll Take a 15% Cut With the new year’s kick-off, many individuals have shared their predictions and expectations for the crypto industry in 2022. Some of these individuals include investors, analysts, and industry leaders. Among the several comments comes the latest publish from Surojit Chatterjee, the Chief Product Officer of Coinbase. Chatterjee predicts major advances for the scalability of Ethereum. Sharing his predictions on Tuesday through a company blog post, the CPO expressed his confidence in Ethereum. He mentioned that the blockchain’s scalability would push it ahead of Web3 and the crypto economy. Furthermore, he was confident that there would be an improvement in Ethereum’s scalability. Also, he stated possible traction for alternative layer-one networks. Further in his post, the CPO commented on the emergence of newer layer-one networks based on social media and gaming. He explained that advancing from layer-one to layer-two bridges will propel a vast improvement for scalability. Moreover, he anticipated a situation where the industry has a desperate search for advancement in speed and the utility of cross-L1 and L1-L2 bridges. Benefits Of Cross-Bridges For Ethereum Scalability Using these bridges will facilitate the easy transfer of tokens from a layer-one (L1) network like Ethereum to a layer-two (L2) network like Arbitrum. Also, it enables reverse transactions between the bridges. For companies like Matter Labs, 2021 saw its tremendous advancement. The firm developed and deployed its layer-two platform based on zkSync rollup to achieve its great feat. Generally, 2021 was a year of massive expansion for the layer-two ecosystem as all the major platforms have a surge in adoption. The tracker for layer-two ecosystems, L2beat, reports almost an 11,000% increase in total value locked for the past year. This brought the value by 2021 to $5.5 billion against $50 million by January 2021. Concerning scaling technologies, Chatterjee picked out zk-Rollups as he mentioned their attractive capacity for users and investors. He explained that the scalability of Zero-knowledge compiles transactions data in batches. This will enable efficiency in their processing on L1 of Ethereum. Furthermore, Coinbase CPO foresees the emerging of more privacy-focused applications. However, he mentioned that it would lead to more attention from the regulatory bodies since there are enforced restrictions through KYC and Anti-Money Laundering (AML). When you're playing Project Zomboid the question of whether your character will be hurt isn't if it will happen, it's when and how bad it can be. Injuries in Project Zomboid are common, and a simple scratch left untreated can leave your character hobbled for days--or even weeks--to come. Here's how you can quickly heal injuries in Project Zomboid.
Regardless of what kind of injury you suffer in Project Zomboid, the first step you should take is almost always bandaging up. That means using whatever you have on hand, whether it's an adhesive bandage or shredded rag, to stop the bleeding. The longer your wound goes uncovered, the more you'll bleed and lose health.
Disinfectant is essential to properly cleaning wounds.
With the right medical supplies on hand though, you can heal injuries with greater efficiency and without the risk of infection. Disinfecting a wound with medical-grade disinfectant or other disinfectants, like liquor or alcohol wipes, will prevent infections that can make your character lose health or even die. If you can, you should always disinfect a wound before applying a bandage.
Treat different injuries properly
Not all injuries in Project Zomboid can simply be bandaged up. Wounds can either be surface-level, like a scratch, or something deeper, like a laceration and deep cut. If you're scratched, all you need is some disinfectant and a bandage to treat it properly. Other wounds, however, require more intense medical treatment.
The injuries you get from smashing a window will be less severe than jumping out of a two-story-high window.
For instance, if you suffer a deep wound, you'll have to stitch it with a suture needle before disinfecting and bandaging. Fractures have to be set with a splint and take a while to recover from completely. And if you get anything lodged in your body, like glass or a bullet, you'll have to remove it (with tweezers in the case of a bullet), disinfect, and close the wound with a suture kit.
Don't get hit
It's basically impossible to avoid injury in Project Zomboid, and at some point, you're probably going to have to choose between two different kinds of wounds. Whenever you have the option though, choose the injury that doesn't come from a zombie. While it may seem like a better idea to fight off a horde of undead rather than jump out of a building, that's not the case.
Injuries from zombies can lead directly to zombification, depending on how they attack you. Scratches from a zombie carry a 7% chance of turning you into a shambler. Lacerations raise those stakes even higher, all the way up to 25%. And if you're bitten, it's game over, as bites carry a 100% chance of being turned. Thankfully, it's relatively easy to avoid being bitten.
Apple has recently been cracking down on Wordle clone games looking to cash in on the success of an unrelated--and free--browser-based puzzle game. One app developer, however, found himself in an even stranger situation, as he created an app five years ago with the same name. It's unrelated to the currently popular Wordle game, but the older app is still seeing a huge spike in downloads.
Writing in an extended thread on Twitter, developer Steven Cravotta explained that when he was 18, he built an app called Wordle, which was another word-based puzzle game, and decided to stop working on it after it had about 100,000 downloads because his previous app had been more successful. After having almost no new downloads for several years, it experienced a massive spike, which he attributed to people hearing about the new Wordle game and searching for it on the App Store.
Here’s how a mobile game I built 5 years ago suddenly got blown up by The New York Times, Wall Street Journal, and Jimmy Fallon. 👇🏼👇🏼👇🏼 pic.twitter.com/aun7YM80p4
Because his app is monetized, Cravotta started getting proceeds through the new users. About 200,000 have downloaded his Wordle app in the last week alone, and he contacted the browser-based Wordle's developer Josh Wardle to discuss donating the profits. They ultimately decided on Boost! West Oakland, a charity focused on after-school tutoring and mentoring for kids in the area.
Speaking to GameSpot, Cravotta said that although there have been a few bad reviews from people who didn't realize his app came first and isn't a clone of the new Wordle, most of the response has been positive.
"Those who did their research on the full story have come to support me! Especially on Twitter," he added.
Cravotta is currently working on another app called Puff Count, which is designed to help vape users kick the habit. As of December, about 100,000 people had joined.
If the only controller-free hand tracking you've used is Quest 2's, you may not have the best opinion of it. At CES we tried the state of the art, Ultraleap Gemini. Here's how it compares:
As far as PC gaming goes, if you're not on Windows, you're still getting the short end of the stick. While macOS and Linux have enjoyed much broader access to major game titles in the last few years, it's still only a fraction of new games that launch on more than one PC platform. Humble, they of the Humble Bundle and the Humble Choice subscription service, aren't helping things out. An upcoming shift in the service will see an abrupt end to support for Mac and Linux as platforms.
It's a bit complicated. See, the Humble Choice service is switching from a multi-tiered options to a single $11.99-a-month option. (As noted by Ars Technica, this is in fact far less choice than the service as it exists now.) As part of this change, Humble has developed a new launcher program to give subscribers access to the “Vault” of 50+ older games and newer indie titles in the Humble Games Collection. But said launcher is very specifically only coming to Windows when the service gets its revamp on February 1st. Existing Humble Choice subscribers have been told in no uncertain terms that Mac and Linux aren't invited to the party.
Until the February 1st deadline, subscribers can download DRM-free copies of whatever Humble Trove games are available on Mac and Linux directly from the Humble website. After the deadline some of these games will only be available to subscribers via the Windows-only launcher, leaving Mac and Linux gamers out in the cold.
The reaction to news of the Windows-only option on social media like Reddit is almost universally negative. In addition to sharply curtailed options for Mac and Linux, users on the Humble Bundles subreddit are complaining that the new subscription will lack web downloads, have less generous discounts on straight Humble Store purchases (which will reset to the bottom 10% tier if you “skip” a month), keys that sometimes go to Epic, Origin, and GOG instead of Steam, and a general decline in the quality of curated Humble titles.
Many Humble fans point to the company's 2017 acquisition by online gaming media giant IGN (itself owned by Ziff Davis) as the primary reason for the shift in strategy. It's worth noting that the service's iconic Humble Bundle sales have continued to offer at least some games available on both macOS and Linux.
