Super Mario World and Animal Crossing: New Horizons are now the latest featured games on Nintendo Switch Online for user icons, but there’s a little bit of a different spin this time around.
In the past members have been able to simply boot up the app and spend My Nintendo points to claim icons. However, as an added wrinkle, you’ll need to actually play the games.
The Animal Crossing icons will be available if you play on at least three separate days within the last 30 days. Sessions are required to be at least 24 hours apart. Play sessions are counted starting from February 26, 2024. If you’ve met that requirement, you can spend My Nintendo Platinum Points on characters, backgrounds, and frames from Animal Crossing: New Horizons. These were previously made available.
Super Mario World seems to be slightly more straightforward. Nintendo says you only need to play the title while the event is active to be able to redeem points for the reward. Just seven icons for Super Mario World are currently available, and each one – which is a character – costs 10 Platinum Points on My Nintendo.
