Singapore Airlines Delays Quarantine Free Flights to Perth

Date:

Singapore Airlines

Singapore Airlines (SIA) has reportedly deployed the launch of quarantine free-flights to Perth, Australia. The airline was going to launch quarantine free flights for fully vaccinated passengers between Singapore and Perth. But since the authorities in Western Australia have cancelled their plans to reopen borders, the airline has no other option but to delay its flights.

According to a Channelnewasia report, the airline was supposed to start this flight service from February 5, 2022. But the Western Australia authorities said that it would be “irresponsible and reckless” to do so during the widespread of Omicron. The reopening of the borders for flights would be delayed indefinitely until the time the percentage of people receiving a third dose of the vaccine reaches 80%.

Note that the Vaccinated Travel Lane (VTL) flights and passengers won’t be affected due to this rule. Normal VTL flights between Singapore and Perth will start as originally planned. Customers who are affected due to this new announcement can claim refund of the unused portion of the ticket, if eligible, said Singapore Airlines.

SIA already operates quarantine flights to other major cities of Australia including Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide, and Sydney.

“SIA remains guided by Western Australia’s regulations, and we will adjust our flights accordingly,” said the airline.

“We would like to apologise to our customers for any inconvenience caused.”
