The IQT The Hague conference will feature Dr. Samuele Grandi, a senior post-doctoral researcher at ICFO (The Institute of Photonic Sciences) and an quantum optics and information expert. Grandi’s extensive research experience primarily focused on generating, manipulating, and detecting quantum light for quantum information processing, positions him as a valuable speaker at the conference.

Currently based in Barcelona, Grandi is part of a leading international project aiming to realize a metropolitan quantum network. This project is at the forefront of developing new quantum communication infrastructure, an essential component of future quantum technology applications.

Grandi holds a “La Caixa” Junior Leader fellowship at ICFO and leads the solid-state quantum network division there. His work focuses on developing single photon sources for quantum memories, a critical aspect in advancing quantum computing and communication technologies.

His previous role as a Juan de la Cierva Postdoctoral Fellow at ICFO involved leading the solid-state division of the QPSA group, focusing on the realization of a rare-earth-based quantum network. This work included an ensemble of ions and cavity-coupled single ions, contributing to the foundational knowledge needed for practical quantum networks.

Grandi’s educational background includes a Ph.D. in Physics from Imperial College London, where he studied the photophysical properties of single Dibenzoterrylene molecules at cryogenic temperatures and their integration into nanophotonic structures. This research is highly relevant to the development of efficient quantum communication systems.

At the IQT The Hague conference, Dr. Grandi is expected to share insights from his extensive research experience in quantum optics and quantum information. His presentation will likely cover advancements in quantum light generation, the development of quantum networks, and the challenges and opportunities in integrating these technologies into practical applications.

IQT The Hague 2024 is the Netherlands’ fifth global conference and exhibition. The Hague is a Quantum Technology Event focusing on Quantum Networking and Quantum Security. Ten vertical topics encompassing more than 40-panel talks from over 100 speakers will provide attendees with a deep understanding of state-of-the-art developments of the future quantum internet and the current impact of quantum-safe technologies on cybersecurity and quantum computers.

The conference brings together corporate management, entrepreneurs, end users, technology providers, infrastructure partners, researchers, and investors working on current developments. IQT The Hague is organized by 3DR Holdings, IQT Research, QuTech, QIA (Quantum Internet Alliance), and Quantum Delta NL, who will bring leading organizations and professionals together in this important event. The April conference is “in-person” to ensure maximum networking and discussion at the Postillion Hotel & Convention Centre in The Hague.
