Raleigh’s Workplace Options, backed by PE firm, buys digital assets to expand assessment capabilities

RALEIGH – Workplace Options, a provider of wellbeing solutions for clients across the globe, has made a purchase to bolster its stress, resiliency, and emotional intelligence assessment capabilities.

The firm announced the purchase of Essi Systems’ assessments and behavior change tools in a statement earlier this week.

“This acquisition will strengthen Workplace Options’ suite of digital services, adding new tools to our suite of emotional, practical, and physical solutions,” said Alan King, president and CEO at Workplace Options, in a statement.  “Our clients will benefit from the assessments and behavioral change tools that Essi Systems developed to further improve the health and resiliency of its members.”

Workplace Options is headquartered in Raleigh, and as of November 2021, employed more than 375 workers with plans to hire more.

The company has partnered with a private equity firm with plans to grow globally.  More acquisitions could be coming, as the statement notes that the latest purchase is “one of several key digital investments.”

Enhancing and integrating

According to the statement, the assessments and platform bought by the company will be built upon and expanded by Workplace Options.

“This method of assessment has been scientifically validated for more than 30 years and is delivered through training, coaching, and consulting programs,” reads the statement.  “Assessment tools include maps that provide extensive data on stress, resiliency, and emotional intelligence in a workplace population.”

The company’s skill-building and behavioral change program is targeted to assist workers improve performance and resiliency, with professional and personal benefits in mind.

“Our clients and consultants can expect the same level of quality and service that they have come to know from our company,” said Karla Carmony, CEO and president of Essi Systems in the statement. “Workplace Options has been on the forefront of developing innovative wellbeing solutions for 40 years and we are pleased to have them take what we’ve created to the next level.”

The Essi Systems assessment tools will be integrated into Workplace Options’ iConnectYou (iCY) mobile app, the company said.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
