The Queenslander at 56 Minden Post Office Road, Tallegalla has undergone a spectacular renovation.

Nearly a decade ago, Kieran and Lexine Moloney came out to the rural paradise of over 12 hectares at 56 Minden Post Office Road, Tallegalla. They envisioned having a space they could curate and call their dream home.

“We had our twins and had to come out this way to work. The property had been sitting on the market. I thought it was completely out of our price range, but we got it. The potential that a Queenslander has that allows you to change it in any way you like,” Mrs Moloney said.

Kieran and Lexine Moloney moved their home at 56 Minden Post Office Road, Tallegalla up the hill on their property.

“When the twins learnt to walk and walked a hundred metres, we’d sit and enjoy the golden hour. The twins would hold hands as they walked to the house. We had our third baby there as well. Watching the kids play outside without any concern, picnics, going up to the hill and flying a kite are all precious memories to me.

Mr and Mrs Moloney undertook the complex feat of moving their Queenslander from the bottom of the hill of their property to the top.

“We moved the house up the hill last year and started renovating our home soon after. We’ll miss the views the property gave us and the neighbours. We’d sit there with the kids eating dinner outside, and we commented,’ You have no idea how lucky you are to be eating dinner with a view like this’,” Mrs Maloney said.

“This was our dream home, and my husband jokes we could move it with us. We hope the next chapter will be it, and we want to put down some roots and get the kids into a good school.

“During the renovation, we moved the grain shed to the pool house and found it was the original second kitchen to the original homestead. When the house was constructed, the kitchens used to be separate from the main house.

“We agonised over every detail, trying to blend a modern home with the historic Queenslander. Hopefully, I hope the new owners appreciate the elements. The personal thing that I love is in the main bathroom, we had the claw foot bath and painted it to fit the colour scheme.”

Property agent Paris Arthur from Place Estate Agents, Graceville, said the campaign had attracted much attention from Brisbane locals and interstate buyers wanting a tree change.

“The buyers wanting a tree change have been the main pool of buyers interested in the property. We’ve had strong numbers coming through the property since the start of the campaign, more than what we’d seen in many properties,” Mr Arthur said.
