So if you like smoking weed there is a chance that you also enjoy some of the other lovely things that nature has to offer. Well some of them are from nature, others less so but still really fun if done right. Basically the question that we are looking at here is whether it is ok or indeed actually safe to combine psychedelics with weed. In theory they seem like they should go well together, but that depends on the circumstances and on the drug. Today we are going to focus on mushrooms and LSD rather than any of the other more popular party drugs. I also want to start off by saying that if it is your first time taking a drug, take it on its own. You don’t know how your body is going to react to it yet so adding in anything else could be extremely dangerous and best case you could just have a really bad time.
Do People Mix Weed and Psychedelics?
The simple answer here is yes, of course they do. In fact it is extremely common for people to smoke weed while tripping. For some people it can soften out a trip or help them come back to reality a little. For others it can just alter the line of the trip or enhance certain aspects of it. However, people do a lot of dumb stuff so just because it’s common doesn’t mean it’s necessarily smart. The main thing about mixing drugs is that everyone’s body is different so before you try something like this you need to understand what happens in your body when you combine weed and psychedelics.
What Happens?
Because we are looking at both mushrooms and LSD we need to separate them and analyse individually.
Mushrooms
This is the most common combination of these drugs, many people enjoy smoking weed while taking magic mushrooms. They sometimes do it to lessen the negative aspects of the drug such as anxiety and nausea. Having taken mushrooms I have to say that the constant motion of everything around me probably could have benefited from a puff or two. Some also use it to amplify the positive aspects of taking mushrooms. A lot of people have reported being able to have far more intense metaphysical and thoughtful trips if they smoke weed while they are tripping. A lot of people also claim that smoking while on mushrooms massively increases their visual trip.
According to the study however, it can be extremely tricky to properly figure out a balance of weed and mushrooms. Even if you are used to drugs there is no guarantee that the effect is going to be the same each time. The danger when consuming mushrooms and weed is that you will enhance the psychedelic effect, but how much? If you overdo it and cause the trip to be too intense this could be a serious issue. A bad trip can be genuinely traumatic especially if you aren’t ready for it and can’t get back out of it. It is also true that in some cases people can experience long term lasting effects from a seriously intense or powerful trip.
There are also long term effects that could be an issue after repeatedly combining weed and mushrooms. Some people have experienced increased anxiety, depression, and other issues that have started to linger after each mixed trip.
Basically if you are a beginner when it comes to mushrooms, it’s likely a good idea to avoid mixing as even the experienced don’t have it down to a science.
Acid
Due to the fact that LSD is a very different type of high to mushrooms we have to look at combining it with weed a bit differently. The basic concept is certainly the same as they are both psychedelics in very similar ways. However, since LSD is not ground grown but lab made it is easier to know exactly how much you are taking. It is thought that LSD is more consistent than a mushroom trip and so in theory it should be safer to smoke weed whilst on it. However, LSD can have far more intense effects on certain types of brains. For some LSD can go darker far more quickly than mushrooms. Also your brain is more likely to see entire visuals rather than strange shifting patterns and colours. Personally my time on acid was 12 hours of pure horror whereas my first time on mushrooms was a relatively pleasant time spent watching flowers grow on a curtain.
For this reason weed can apparently be quite good with acid, especially more calming strains. If you are having a high anxiety time a joint could calm you down and actually lessen the intense visuals. ‘Could’ being the operative word here though. Some people recommend smoking something that is extremely high in CBD whilst tripping as it has an extremely calming effect. If you are having a bad time I recommend nothing too soporific. It’s very weird having corpses rushing past your brain but also being incredibly tired and unable to keep your eyes open.
Again, many people seriously enjoy the enhancing effects of combining weed with acid. Claiming that it can take them to new levels of euphoria and really increases the visuals. Then many others either feel nothing at all or experience anxiety. Again this is basically something that needs a good amount of experience behind it before you just go playing around. It’s a pretty exact science with LSD especially so over time it will likely be possible to find the exact right balance that works for you. Even then you won’t experience drugs the same way every time, that’s part of the fun.
Conclusion
So, as far as we know it’s generally pretty safe to combine weed with psychedelics. You won’t have a reaction like you might mixing different amphetamines or combining drugs with medications. You just have to be careful especially if you’re new to tripping. I would honestly say trip a good few times before trying to add weed into the mix. Be safe out there my babies.
