General Gosu “GosuGamers” Gamers

In the last 24 hours, former content contributors have come forward to express their warranted dissatisfaction with previous works being credited to a generic ‘GosuGamers’ byline.

We want to apologize for the disappointment and dismay that was experienced by our past personnel. It was never our intent to remove or reclaim credit for the hard work and creativity put forward by each of the individuals that were the foundation of and built up the site over the years.

The entire iconic brand of GosuGamers was a passion project that was founded on being a collaborative effort. Detracting from the importance of that history and the ongoing impact of such on future success does not reflect the characterization of the company nor our values.

When we purchased GosuGamers, we did so because we shared that same exact passion and believed in the effort and the value of every single person who was aiming to bring to life the storylines and narratives of esports.

Unfortunately, as part of the transfer of ownership, we had to comply with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) which requires all users to approve of the data transfer. We tried to reach out to all of our users based on the best understanding and network of our new team and that was simply not good enough. The time frame was indeed very short and many emails were sent to inactive addresses, redirected as spam, or lost in the process.  As a result, many users were unaware of the new requirements to keep their accounts active.

We have heard your criticism of the results of our process and are working on reinstating these accounts. In order to do so, we ask that each affected individual reclaim their accounts by the following:

  • Create a new account on GosuGamers. You can use the same details if they are still available.
  • Fill out the form HERE with your old username or email, and new username or email

Alternatively, do send an email to [email protected]  if you have any issues or questions

Once received our database staff will recreate the account and follow up with you.

We appreciate your patience and understanding while we work to remedy this situation. We will do whatever we can to assist content creators with the transition, and we are committed to rebuilding trust.

DWG KIA is the big favorite for MSI 2021, and this is why

Avatar

Published

on

The 2021 Mid-Season Invitational is right around the corner and will bring the first international clashes of 2021, with DWG KIA looking like the biggest favorite.

After winning the world championship last year, DWG KIA has kept the impressive form and dominated the 2021 LCK Spring Split. With back-to-back LCK trophies and a world championship in the bag, it’s expected that DWG KIA will perform well at the upcoming MSI. Despite great competition from the biggest leagues in the world, DWG KIA will be the pre-tournament favorites in many eyes, and for good reason.

Being the favorite isn’t something DWG KIA has been used to until very recently but it doesn’t seem to affect the players.

Throughout the recent LCK spring split, DWG KIA was only put under serious pressure a couple of times. The first moment was by none other than Fredit BRION, in a match where DWG KIA clearly got up on the wrong side of the bed. It wasn’t enough to shake the champions, as they didn’t lose another series before after securing first place in the regular split.

In the playoffs, it also looked like a breeze for DWG KIA, who swept the semifinal and final. Gen.G was able to challenge DWG KIA a bit in the final, but never to a point where there was any question about the result.

This dominant performance speaks for itself and will have any team shake going into MSI. Even with a new top laner in Kim “Khan” Dong-ha, DWG KIA looks like a well-oiled machine ready to take on the international stage once again. Some fans and experts have already stated that this version of DWK KIA isn’t as strong as at the 2020 World Championship, but maybe that isn’t needed to win.

With one representative from each region at MSI, the competition will be more concentrated and allow DWK KIA to prepare for very specific opponents. With world-class players in every position, it’s hard to find cracks in the DWG KIA armor but not impossible. The team can be punished through the early game, but it will require clean games from the opponent as DWG KIA is known to turn games on its head.

With all these strengths and an expectation of the LCK taking the MSI trophy in mind, who can even challenge the defending world champions?

RNG looking to play spoiler at MSI 2021

The biggest challenger to take down DWG KIA is looking to be LPL’s representative Royal Never Give Up. After a long and competitive split, RNG managed to win it all against all expectations. Going into the season, very few people expected RNG to play among the best but they proved everyone wrong.

RNG is seen as one of the old kings of the LPL and is now back in the throne. With former mid laner and veteran player Li “Xiaohu” Yuan-Hao switching to the top lane, RNG has gotten a completely new identity and playstyle compared to previous years. RNG was once very reliant on star bot laner Jian “Uzi” Zi-Hao but after his retirement, RNG has created its own playstyle with wonky picks in the top lane and overall stable team fighting.

In the 2021 LPL Spring Split playoffs, RNG was knocked into the lower bracket by FunPlus Phoenix in the first round despite being the first seed. The loss to FPX seemed like the end for RNG, but they bounced back with a win against Top Esports and EDward Gaming in the lower bracket. FPX was waiting in the final for a rematch, and RNG showed up with a beautiful 3-1 victory.

The LPL trophy means a lot for the RNG organization, but international success will likely mean more. RNG still has a lot to prove with this squad and doesn’t have as strong of a track record compared to DWK KIA. With that said, the Chinese powerhouse is looking like the strongest team to challenge.

Can MAD Lions or Cloud9 surprise at MSI 2021?

It wouldn’t be an exciting MSI without western teams stepping up to the plate. For the European LEC, there is a title to defend after G2 Esports won in 2019, and for the North American LCS, international success is starting to become a must.

The LEC is sending MAD Lions to MSI, after the team won the 2021 LEC Spring Split, a great underdog story. MAD Lions entered the playoffs as the third seed and ended up going undefeated through the upper bracket against all odds. MAD Lions has showcased eager play the whole split but only very few people would have expected them to go past Rogue two times and G2 Esports as well.

The final against Rogue was extremely close and ended up with a reverse sweep from MAD Lions. This final didn’t only show the level of MAD Lions’ gameplay, but also their ability to perform under pressure.

Cloud9 also needed a five-game thriller to win the LCS Mid-Season Showdown, ultimately taking down Team Liquid. In many ways, Cloud9 had the same journey to the trophy as MAD Lions did except for being the favorite. Cloud9 ended the regular split in first seed and was also the team to perform best in the best-of-five format. With Luka “Perkz” Perković leading the charge, the team seems more ready for an international event than ever.

If either MAD Lions or Cloud9 can compete with DWG KIA and even RNG is hard to tell. Both teams haven’t shown the same amount of dominance in their respective leagues, so it would be a surprise to see a western champion this year.

When is MSI 2021?

The 2021 Mid-Season Invitational will run from May 6 to 22. It will be held in Reykjavík, Iceland, the first international event of the year. It will also be the first MSI event since 2019, as the 2020 tournament was canceled.

The tournament will host each regional champion from the spring split with a total of 11 teams. Originally, there should have been 12 teams but the VCS representative GAM Esports won’t be able to make it due to travel restrictions.

Call of Duty: Warzone Nuke Event incoming, but still a mystery

Avatar

Published

on

Call of Duty: Warzone has become one of the most popular battle royales out there and it’s following in Fortnite’s footsteps with an event before Season 3 begins tomorrow. But what is it?

Not much is known about Warzone’s upcoming event despite it being in just a few hours. The event starts at noon PST, kicking off Warzone’s two-day-long transition into Season 3. Season 2 is ending and Season 3 is starting tomorrow, bringing with it a possible new map, new weapons, and in-game challenges. First, players will be able to experience the Nuke Event later today.

What is Call of Duty: Warzone’s Nuke Event?

Call of Duty’s official blog teased the event on Wednesday. The blog basically tells the story behind the Nuke Event, getting players hyped for whatever is incoming.

“The situation in Verdansk has hit a critical level. It seems the combat zone has become too dangerous for even a Tier 1 Operator to survive in. Is a conflagration imminent? The answer is still unknown, though it is recommended you clear your schedule for the week and ready yourself for a crescendo of utter chaos within the Warzone. Be certain you’re available for Operation Rapid Sunder throughout Wednesday, April 21 and beyond,” the blog reads.

It then states that “further instructions” are coming at noon on Wednesday.

Not much else is said. Leakers and data miners have been hard at work leading up to this point, attempting to figure out what might happen before the launch of Season 3. Some speculation points to it taking place in the 1980s but Activision hasn’t said anything official as of yet.

Another theory is that zombies will take over the current map, Verdansk. The Nuke Event will basically leave the map destroyed completely as a result of the invasion. This will be how Warzone will possibly retire Verdansk and introduce a new map, which leakers believe will take place in the Ural mountains.

Where can I watch the Nuke Event?

Players will be able to participate in the event themselves come at 12 p.m. PT on April 21. But popular streamers and influencers from across the Call of Duty: Warzone community will also be hosting streams of the event for fans to watch.

Packages were sent to Call of Duty streamers before the event’s launch. They include a note that reads “once the hostile reach here, we levee a guess that Verdansk is all but gone to the damned.”

Keep an eye on Call of Duty streamers’ Twitch channels around noon PST to watch them take part in this epic Season 2 finale event.

Season 3 is coming to Warzone on April 22. According to Call of Duty’s official Twitter, there will be more events leading up to the new season, including some type of hour-long event happening tomorrow. This will officially finalize the end of Season 2 and bring in the changes of Season 3, which includes new weapons and a possible new map.

Valorant player falsely banned after ShahZaM reported him for hacking

Avatar

Published

on

There are plenty of Valorant players who got banned on live stream, but this recent ban on Sentinels’ professional player Shahzeb “ShahZaM” Khan’s stream comes with a twist.

Riot’s Vanguard system has caught dozens of hackers on live streams through a strict method that detects high-end third party software while the game is running. The ban system has made examples out of the likes of Xhade, Solista, ReFleck, and many more. ShahZaM’s recent stream busted another hacker but it turns out that he was just incredibly good at Valorant.

ShahZaM had reported a suspicious player to admins, who later got banned during a live stream. However, the player was deemed clean after further inspection.

During his live stream, ShahZaM was hit with insane headshot mid-air by a player named Gh0st. The pro player suspected that Gh0st wasn’t playing clean and insisted on admins scrutinizing his account. Even though the admins said that “he doesn’t seem sus,” ShahZaM was adamant that something was off. Consequently, the player was banned during the map Haven.

However, soon after the ban, Riot developer K30 posted an update, revealing that Gh0st was falsely banned since his account activity is clear of any suspicious software.

“After review, gh0st has been unbanned. We routinely QA both our detections and accounts that have been banned, but unfortunately, this was a situation where we weren’t 100% precise, and gh0st was an unfair victim of rare circumstance,” the developer said.

Gh0st also updated the fans about his ban removal and received a response from 100 Theives’ Peter “Asuna” Mazuryk, who vouched for Gh0st.

Gh0st unban raises questions about ban process

The developer quickly fixed the damage but Valorant players are upset about this mishap that resulted after a pro player kicked up a fuss on Livestream. Players are furious that the admins only banned Gh0st after ShahZaM kept pestering them on stream without solid proof.

Riot’s anti-cheat can easily detect a hacker, but bulk reports from players are also encouraged by the admins. In Gh0st’s case, it seems that both the causes were missing. His ban likely resulted from a manual inspection after ShahZaM’s report, even though the developer has explained “extremely rare unintended collision” as the primary cause.

The unban has caused frenzy among the Valorant players who blindly trusted Riot’s vanguard system. While it’s just a software that can certainly make errors, players doubt that it was a technical slip-up in Vanguard. It’s unlikely that admins exercise power to restrict an account, but it’s highly suspicious Gh0st was flagged as hacker right after ShahZaM made a mention of it.

Whatever the case, Gh0st is now free from the false ban and has received tons of support from the Valorant community. Many players are requesting esports organizations to sign him for his jumping headshot potential and exceptional gameplay.
