The IQT The Hague conference will feature Peter Lodahl, a distinguished quantum physicist, entrepreneur, and professor at the Niels Bohr Institute and the Founder of Sparrow Quantum. Lodahl’s contributions to quantum physics, particularly in the development of deterministic single-photon sources and photonic nanostructures, position him as a key speaker at the conference, especially for attendees interested in the advancements of quantum information science and the development of quantum hardware.

Lodahl founded Sparrow Quantum, a start-up specializing in deterministic single-photon sources, a critical component in quantum computing and communication systems. He also directs the Danish National Research Foundation Center of Excellence, Hybrid Quantum Networks (Hy-Q), further underscoring his leadership in the field of quantum technology.

After earning his Ph.D. from the University of Copenhagen in 2000, Lodahl expanded his research at institutions like Caltech and the University of Twente. His significant achievement in demonstrating the full control of light emission using intricate photonic nanostructures has laid the groundwork for deterministic quantum interfaces between light and matter. This breakthrough is fundamental to the advancement of quantum communication and computing.

In 2005, Lodahl founded his research group in Denmark, where he has been developing fundamentally new quantum hardware for the emergent field of quantum information science. His group’s innovations include deterministic single-photon sources, spin-photon interfaces, and photonic quantum gates. These technologies have applications in photonic quantum computers, quantum repeaters, and quantum key distribution, contributing to a quantum internet’s ultimate vision.

With over 140 publications, 6 patents, and more than 170 invited talks, Lodahl has significantly influenced the quantum physics domain. His educational legacy includes mentoring 30 Ph.D. students and 35 postdocs, many of whom are now in influential roles within the field. His work at Sparrow Quantum will no doubt be used as an example at the IQT the Hague conference.

IQT The Hague 2024 is the Netherlands’ fifth global conference and exhibition. The Hague is a Quantum Technology Event focusing on Quantum Networking and Quantum Security. Ten vertical topics encompassing more than 40-panel talks from over 100 speakers will provide attendees with a deep understanding of state-of-the-art developments of the future quantum internet and the current impact of quantum-safe technologies on cybersecurity and quantum computers.

The conference brings together corporate management, entrepreneurs, end users, technology providers, infrastructure partners, researchers, and investors working on current developments. IQT The Hague is organized by 3DR Holdings, IQT Research, QuTech, QIA (Quantum Internet Alliance), and Quantum Delta NL, who will bring leading organizations and professionals together in this important event. The April conference is “in-person” to ensure maximum networking and discussion at the Postillion Hotel & Convention Centre in The Hague.
