Paytm Mall (1), an ecommerce arm of One97, has sent a legal notice to Cyble. The movement came a week after Cyble, a US-based cyber risk intelligence platform, said that it suffered a massive data breach. 

On 30th August, Cyble Inc claimed in its Blogspot that “John Wick,” a cybercrime group, has hacked Paytm Mall. The claim further stated that the hacker got unrestricted access to the company’s entire database. 

Paytm has given a week to Cyble to comply with its notice. If no agreement came from the company, then the ecommerce organization will move to court. As per the notification, Paytm mall will start civil and criminal proceedings against the Cyble. 

Cyble Blogspot claimed that Paytm Mall was Hacked Because of an Insider

As a part of its legal notice, Paytm made a statement to Cyble (2) that your business provides services regarding cyber risks, threats, and security. We expect more reasonable and ethical standards from your end. 

The Blogspot of Cyble claimed that “John Wick” was able to upload a backdoor to the website of Paytm Mall. The hacker also gained unrestricted access to their entire database. It added that the hack happened due to an insider at the ecommerce organization, as per its sources. It claimed that these data are unverified but possible. 

Besides, the cybersecurity firm mentioned on its blog, citing sources that a hacker under the alias “grey hat” has demanded a ransom of 10 ETH, equivalent to 4,000 USD from Paytm Mall.

In its legal notice, Paytm Mall has asked Cyble to stop from making any false claims immediately regarding the matter.

In the past, several firms of India have face data breaches. As per the reports, in May, there were 4.75 crore Indian users of Truecaller up for sale on the dark web. 

Cyble had highlighted various data breaches in the Indian companies like Naukri.com, Unacademy, IndiaBulls, Truecaller. While some companies like Unacademy and BEML accepted the data breaches, some alleged that there is no data collection proof.
