During the Xbox & Bethesda Games Showcase, Activision Blizzard finally unveiled the release date of Overwatch 2. The game will be available on October 4 on PC and consoles. After years of expectations and a successful beta, Overwatch 2 is finally getting closer to its official release. The game will be available on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch on October 4, 2022.

The PvP mode of Overwatch 2 will be free-to-play. Players who already own a copy of the original Overwatch game will receive an in-game bonus, the Founder’s Pack. It features an exclusive founder’s icon and two epic skins: General Doomfist and Jester Sombra. To be eligible for the Founder’s Pack, players need to own a copy of Overwatch before June 23, 2022, at 11 am PDT.

Overwatch 2 brings several updates to the original game. The biggest change is the introduction of the 5v5 mode, removing a tank from the original 6v6 battles. It changes the dynamic of all fights in Overwatch 2 and already has an impact on the Overwatch League.

The game also brings new maps and heroes. If Sojourn was the only new hero to join Overwatch 2 so far, another one was just announced. The leader of Junkertown, Junker Queen, is the latest hero to join the Overwatch 2 roster. This tank hero wields a shotgun and an ax, but we don’t know much more about her.

Activision Blizzard will share more details on Junker Queen and the future of Overwatch 2 on June 16, during the Overwatch 2 Reveal Event livestream.
