A fibre optic cable break in Bodø, Norway, caused major disruptions to air traffic in northern Norway on Friday afternoon. Flights were grounded for approximately six hours while technicians repaired the fault.
Avinor, the airport operator, apologised for the inconvenience caused to passengers and airlines. Tromsø Airport was one of the most affected destinations, experiencing cancellations and delays. All air traffic resumed normal operation by 20:30.
This is the second closure of part of Norway’s airspace in two days. The previous one affected southern Norway.
