Twee jaar geleden, vóór de crypto-meltdown van 2022, maakte stablecoin-uitgever Circle aangekondigd dat het via SPAC naar de beurs zou gaan tegen een waardering van $ 9 miljard.

Maar toen gebeurde het in 2022 (Celsius, 3AC, Luna, BlockFi, FTX, enz.). Plannen verliepen dus stilletjes ijskast in december van dat vreselijke jaar voor crypto.

2023 was een heel ander jaar. Bitcoin steeg met 150%, Coinbase-aandelen stegen met 400%, en crypto genoot ervan wettelijkoverwinningen tegen de SEC.

Ook dit jaar begint crypto met een knal. Het is geen toeval dat de dag erna de SEC een bitcoin ETF Circle goedkeurde ingediend vertrouwelijk voor een beursintroductie.

Hoewel Circle niets direct te maken heeft met een bitcoin ETF, zoals ik gisteren in de nieuwsbrief zei, is het een zeer positief teken voor crypto in het algemeen. En Circle wil van dit moment profiteren.

Circle is vooral bekend als de uitgever van de #2 stablecoin qua marktwaarde, USDC (alleen achter Tether). Het bouwt aan een mondiaal financieel raamwerk gebaseerd op de stablecoin-infrastructuur. Een alternatief voor de traditionele betaalrails.

Uitgaande van een succesvolle beursintroductie zal Circle nog meer vuurkracht hebben om dit ‘digitale dollar’-raamwerk naar de massa te brengen.
