Having begun its EV offensive in 2017, Polestar has since launched the hybrid, 600bhp Polestar 1 and the Tesla Model 3-rivalling 2 – though both are yet to surface on our roads, the Swedish brand is already eyeing its next move.

Named ‘Precept’ for its purpose as a vision for the future of the brand, it’s not only set to incorporate a number of high-tech, sustainable new materials, but will also be produced in a much more environmentally friendly manner than any model we’ve seen. The concept will also outline its next-generation Human Machine Interface, and will be revealed online on 25 February.

Likely to be shown in public for the first time at this year’s Geneva motor show, the Precept is set to adopt a brand new HMI. Thanks to its partnership with Google, established through the Android-based infotainment in the Polestar 2, the new system will use advanced AI and improved voice recognition in an effort to enhance the experience of both the driver and passengers.

A new eye-tracking system will also be implemented to reduce ‘information overload’ on the driver, reducing the amount of information displayed when it’s not required. The system will warn the driver when they’ve had their eyes off the road for too long and more.

No information on future drivetrain tech has been revealed, but talk of new, lightweight, sustainable materials could pave the way for more driver-oriented models in Polestar’s line-up. Given Polestar’s sustainable approach, most likely is the use of an all-electric powertrain in its future products, and so a quoted 50 per cent reduction in weight for certain materials could help counteract the associated weight disadvantage.
