Luxury retail giant Neiman Marcus Group this week announced that it will acquire Stylyze, a Seattle startup founded in 2010 that sells “merchandising-as-a-service” software to online home and fashion retailers.

Stylyze provides retailers with product attribution data, digital outfit and room builders, content creation tools, and more to boost their e-commerce shopping experiences. The startup was founded by Kristen Miller and Lisa Perrone Cirelli. Miller previously founded four companies in the home decor industry. Perrone Cirelli is an interior design expert who previously worked at Schoenfeld Interiors and Schick Design Group.

“This allows us to deepen our relationship with our customers through the use of technology,” Neiman CEO Geoffroy van Raemdonck said in a statement.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Miller told GeekWire that she and Perrone Cirelli, along with 12 other staffers, will join Neiman as part of the acquisition.

“We are excited to continue to expand our platform and integrate more deeply across Neiman’s business,” she said. “At this point, the thought is that that platform will be for their exclusive use.”

Stylyze had raised $2.8 million to date from investors including many leading retail executives such as former Nordstrom CFO Mike Koppel. It previously partnered with Neiman starting in 2018.

The acquisition of Stylyze is part of Neiman’s plan to invest in tech and digital capabilities. The company took a hit due to the pandemic as COVID restrictions crushed department store sales. Neiman filed for bankruptcy a year ago, added new owners, and then refinanced $1.1 billion in debt.
