Dr. Mira L. Wolf-Bauwens, the Responsible Quantum Computing Lead within the Responsible & Inclusive Technologies Team at IBM Research, will present an enlightening perspective on the ethical dimensions and social implications of quantum computing at the April IQT the Hague conference. As an IBM Quantum Technical Ambassador, Dr. Wolf-Bauwens combines her profound technical knowledge with a deep commitment to ensuring that quantum computing advances in a manner that is both responsible and inclusive.

With an impressive background that spans normative analysis, strategy and business consulting, development cooperation, startup leadership, and digitalization, Dr. Wolf-Bauwens is uniquely positioned to address the complex challenges at the intersection of emerging technologies and societal values. Her Ph.D. in Political Philosophy from the University of Zurich, supplemented by Visiting Research Fellowships at Columbia University and the University of Oxford, has provided her with a solid foundation for critically examining the institutional recognition and normative evaluation of emerging technologies. These experiences have helped her succeed at her current position within IBM Research.

At the conference, Dr. Wolf-Bauwens is expected to delve into the principles and practices underpinning responsible quantum computing, using her work at IBM Research as an example. She will explore how ethical considerations, such as privacy, security, and inclusivity, can be integrated into the development and deployment of quantum technologies. Furthermore, Dr. Wolf-Bauwens’ talk will likely cover the role of interdisciplinary collaboration in shaping a future where quantum computing benefits all sectors of society while mitigating potential risks and inequalities.

IQT The Hague 2024 is the Netherlands’ fifth global conference and exhibition. The Hague is a Quantum Technology Event focusing on Quantum Networking and Quantum Security. Ten vertical topics encompassing more than 40 panel talks from over 100 speakers will provide attendees with a deep understanding of state-of-the-art developments of the future quantum internet and the current impact of quantum-safe technologies on cybersecurity and quantum computers.

The conference brings together corporate management, entrepreneurs, end users, technology providers, infrastructure partners, researchers, and investors working on current developments. IQT The Hague is organized by 3DR Holdings, IQT Research, QuTech, QIA (Quantum Internet Alliance), and Quantum Delta NL, who will bring leading organizations and professionals together in this important event. The April conference is “in-person” to ensure maximum networking and discussion at the Postillion Hotel & Convention Centre in The Hague.
